Full Job Description

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant with hands-on accounting and accounts payable experience to support the financial administration of membership and revenue programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background with direct experience in accounts payable, General Ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.

This role requires someone who is comfortable working directly with accounting transactions and financial processes while partnering with Operations and Accounting teams. The successful candidate will help maintain financial controls, review transactions, resolve discrepancies, prepare financial reports, and support ongoing accounting operations.

Job Specifics

3-month contract position with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent employee.
100% onsite.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Pay Range: $38.00–$40.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

Perform hands-on Staff Accounting and Accounts Payable functions supporting designated membership and revenue programs.
Oversee the financial administration of designated membership and revenue programs.
Review and approve financial transactions initiated by Operations staff prior to posting to the General Ledger.
Process, review, and reconcile accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures.
Identify and correct financial discrepancies and ensure adherence to established accounting policies and procedures.
Prepare and post journal entries for month-end close within established deadlines.
Reconcile balance sheet and General Ledger accounts on a monthly basis and communicate significant discrepancies to Accounting leadership.
Prepare periodic and ad hoc financial reports for Executive Leadership and other stakeholders.
Collect and analyze financial data to support reporting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
Assist with annual audit schedules and provide support to independent auditors as needed.
Provide financial process training and guidance to Operations teams as needed.
Establish and maintain financial policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
Provide financial oversight for other non-patient revenue programs as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable organizational policies and the Code of Conduct.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required.
Hands-on Staff Accountant experience required.
Hands-on Accounts Payable experience strongly preferred.
Experience with General Ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
Experience with physician practice accounting or hospital accounting preferred.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling financial information.
Ability to remain focused and productive while managing interruptions and competing priorities.
