Full Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

Universal Pain Management (www.universalpain.com) is seeking a full time Front Office Coordinator/Medical Assistant who can also cover the back office when needed for our Palmdale location. The person hired for this position is responsible for high call volume, checking in patients and collecting co-pays, scheduling patients and covering where needed They will also be responsible for clinical and administrative tasks to support the work of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals. As part of the patient care team, the Medical Assistant provides direct, professional care to patients within their scope of practice in the office setting.

SKILLS:

Can demonstrate general administrative and clerical procedures.
Excellent customer services skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Is a team player and has the ability to work well with physicians, coworkers, patients and others.
Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Utmost level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Good command of the English language both verbal and written (Spanish-speaking is preferred).
Excellent computer skills.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Dependable with very few unexpected absences.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Welcomes patients, family members and other visitors.
Receives incoming calls and provides appropriate responses or directs calls to the proper individual.
Takes accurate messages.
Schedules new patient and follow up appointments.
Develops relationships with referring doctor’s office staff.
Collects patient co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, past balances, and medical records fees.
Scans medical documents and patient information into the electronic medical records system.
Communicates with pharmacies and replies as directed by providers.
Monitors incoming faxes and distributes to appropriate personnel.
Responds to and complies with requests for information, including prior authorizations for medications.
Obtains external medical reports as requested by providers.
Coordinates maintenance of office equipment.
Maintains a stock of forms and other printed material used in the office.
Performs insurance verification.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years' medical front office experience is a must.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
