Job Description:
Document Shredder Operators play a crucial role in protecting confidential information by ensuring documents are securely collected, transported, and destroyed. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a small industrial document shredder, completing scheduled customer pickup routes in a company van, safely loading and unloading document containers, and maintaining secure custody of all materials from pickup through final destruction. This position requires dependability, attention to safety and confidentiality, physical capability, and professional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Secure Document Collection: Collect boxes, bags, bins, carts, and other document containers from customer locations. Maintain secure custody of all confidential materials during pickup, transportation, storage, and destruction.
- Route Driving and Customer Service: Safely operate a company-owned van on scheduled shredding pickup routes. Complete assigned stops efficiently and communicate professionally and courteously with customers.
- Loading and Material Handling: Load, unload, move, lift, push, and pull document containers and materials safely. Use proper lifting techniques and available material-handling equipment when appropriate.
- Operate Industrial Shredding Equipment: Safely feed documents into the shredder, monitor the machine during operation, prevent overloading, and respond appropriately to jams, alarms, or other operating concerns.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance on the shredder in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer guidance. Report equipment damage, unusual operation, or repair needs promptly.
- Vehicle Care and Safety: Perform routine vehicle checks, keep the van clean and organized, secure loads before travel, and promptly report vehicle damage, maintenance needs, or safety concerns.
- Documentation and Accountability: Complete route sheets, pickup records, destruction logs, and other required documentation accurately. Communicate missed pickups, access issues, or customer concerns to the appropriate team member.
- Productivity and Workplace Safety: Complete shredding work and pickup routes within expected timeframes. Follow all safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment, and keep the shredding and storage areas clean, secure, and organized.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to safely operate a smaller company van in varying road and weather conditions
- Physical ability to frequently lift and carry up to 100lbs and safely push or pull loaded document containers
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, twist, and remain on feet for the majority of the workday
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform routine equipment cleaning and preventative maintenance
- Strong attention to safety, confidentiality, organization, and accurate recordkeeping
- Dependable attendance, effective time-management skills, and ability to work independently
- Professional customer service and communication skills
Schedule: In this position, your regular work schedule will typically consist of 25-37 hours per week. The workload varies based on client demand, offering you flexibility.

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
