Full Job Description

Company Overview

We are a small company in Downingtown Pa. There are 25 staff members and we are a Veteran Owned and Family Operated company where the owners and some of the staff are born and raised in DASD.

We have 2 install teams that can already do most gas/ac/hp systems on their own unsupervised. We are in need of a Senior Lead Install Tech who either has deep experience leading teams or a Tech who wants to morph from just doing Installs every week to leading the two teams by overseeing their work and stepping in to teach and to train in situations where the younger guys get stuck or struggle to figure out how to navigate some of the complexities that show up mid install.

Job Overview

You need to be able to Manage 2 Install Teams that perform mostly residential installs every week.

You must be strong in metal work and commissioning equipment so in the event the staff get stuck trying to transition metal you can step in and teach them how.

We need you to be proficient with trouble shooting new equipment includes Mini Splits, Geothermal, and High Eff Boiler Systems as it will be crucial to showcase those skills. You will be put into play if the staff goes to startup and get stuck with some of the more complex outdoor units or stuck on a Geo Start Up.

Must be proficient in Oil Systems, Propane Systems and Hybrids as we do ALOT of conversion work. You will also need to be able to coordinate with propane companies and tank removal companies when we are doing these projects.

Must be able to handle all forms of wiring low volt and high volt as wells as running wire to and from panels adding breakers. Working with commercial Roof Tops and helping the younger guys learn Low Volt and High Volt work.

Needs to be able to lift up to 50lbs as we do alot of boiler work and water heaters.

Needs to be able to teach and lead in a calm and professional manner keeping cool under timelines as well as working in uncomfortable environments, such as hot attics or tight crawl spaces.

Needs to be able to talk with customers professionally and always back up our company and our teams with the homeowners.

Needs to be able to double check Salesmens work to make sure we are not installing the wrong size equipment, acting as a second set of eyes knowing “measure twice, cut once” is a team effort.

We will NOT tolerate negative attitudes, or blaming sales or shop leadership for everything and anything as we do not have these issues now with no install manager in the company.

We have gone over a year now without an install manager, where people are jumping in here and there when the staff gets hung up and helping out to make sure quality control stays at its highest levels. The goal here is to find someone who meshes well with the current install teams and can be more of a mentor and teacher vs a commanding type boss as the teams are pretty strong on their own, they are all just kinda young. (All 6 install team members are under 30 years old)

Again, this is 98% residential and the seasons get hard in summer and winter as we are pushing jobs on the board as packed in as we can to capitalize on the rush, then the off season is more steady as she goes.

We need someone who has the understanding that this is going to be GOGOGO all summer and winter then traintraintrain all off season long. So someone who has the talent to teach but the willingness to help be a lead if we land a 3rd install in a single day and need to split teams.
