Full Job Description

Responsibilities

Phlebotomy & Specimen Collection

Draw blood from patients using proper technique and universal precautions.
Explain the process clearly to help relax patients who feel nervous about having blood drawn.
Verify patient identity using required identifiers before collection.
Label collected blood accurately for testing or processing and ensure proper handling/transport to the Laboratory.
Label sterile containers for other samples (e.g., urine) and instruct patients on proper collection procedures.
Enter sample and collection information into the EMR.
Assemble, maintain, and properly dispose of medical instruments and supplies (needles, test tubes, blood vials, sharps containers).
Maintain phlebotomy supply levels; monitor par levels and communicate ordering needs.

Clinical Support & Patient Flow

Prepare patients for visits by directing/accompanying them to exam rooms, providing gowns/drapes, and assisting with positioning for exams/treatments.
Support providers during examinations and procedures, including setting up rooms, assisting during visits, and ensuring efficient patient flow.
Assist with in-office procedures as needed (e.g., testosterone pellet insertion, vasectomy, MonaLisa, etc.).
Perform operation support duties including rooming patients, prepping and cleaning exam rooms, and participating in quality assurance/control initiatives.
Perform bone density and InBody testing (training provided).
Prepare laboratory specimens and ensure proper processing steps are followed.
Sterilize medical instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies per protocol.
Take electrocardiograms (EKGs) as assigned/needed.

Lead / Senior Responsibilities (Daily Management, Training, Quality)

Lead day-to-day workflow for the MA/Phlebotomy team: assign/prioritize tasks, ensure coverage, and remove bottlenecks to keep patient flow moving.
Train, onboard, and mentor new hires; provide hands-on coaching, competency support, and reinforcement of protocols.
Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate workflow or patient-care issues to the Supervisor/Practice Leadership; escalate when needed.
Reinforce consistent standards for patient experience, specimen handling, room turnover, and documentation.

Supplies, Equipment & Safety

Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, requesting refills with the Operations Manager, confirming arrival of orders, and putting supplies away appropriately.
Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs as needed.
Keep work areas and equipment clean, sanitary, and audit-ready.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards/procedures and complying with applicable regulations.

Confidentiality & Professional Standards

Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping all patient information confidential (HIPAA and internal standards).
Demonstrate professionalism, warmth, accuracy, and attention to detail in all patient-facing and team-facing interactions.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree
Certification: Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in a clinical setting, particularly in urology or a related field, is advantageous.
Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and proficiency in medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
Technology: Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
Compliance: Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical ethics.

Working Conditions:

Environment: Fast-paced outpatient office setting.
Hours: Full-time, includes evenings and working at both NYC and Westchester office.
Physical Demands: Standing, bending, and lifting may be required. Exposure to bodily fluids and medical instruments is possible.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 28 per week
