Full Job Description

The Neosho County Treasurer's Office is looking for two full-time Motor Vehicle / Tax Clerk's I. This position's starting wage is $17.10 - $17.20 per hour, dependent upon qualifications, and includes county benefits options such as health/dental/vision insurance, sick leave, vacation, retirement (KPERS & KPERS457) and more. Position is responsible for registering motor vehicles, processing taxes, balancing corresponding cash drawers, preparing various correspondence, reports, receipts, numerous miscellaneous documents, phone and e-mail communications. The individuals chosen for these positions will be required to comply with all state statutes, county, and departmental policies, and procedures, as well as, KDOR training and security awareness requirements. Position Supervisor is the Neosho County Treasurer.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Other duties include: the ability to type a minimum of 50 wpm and to use a ten-key accurately and proficiently, ability to clearly and efficiently communicate with taxpayers, county employees, and the public regarding all issues. Must be able to work efficiently under pressure and multitask effectively. Must possess computer literacy to perform the requirements of this position. Basic mathematical and bookkeeping skills, data entry. Must be able to write notes efficiently and clearly. Must be able to accurately count back change to customers. Providing excellent, courteous, and efficient customer service is a priority. Must have good general office and organizational skills. Will perform other duties as assigned. Must be able to work closely with others and maintain professionalism.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequently required to stand, sit, walk, use arms, hands and fingers, speak, hear and see. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to, occasionally, lift up to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school degree or equivalent (required)
Administrative Assistants & Receptionists: 3 years (not required but prefer)
Customer service: 3 years (not required but prefer)
Cashiering: 3 years (not required but prefer)
