POSITION SUMMARY
The Loan Officer is responsible for originating, underwriting, and managing a diverse portfolio of consumer, commercial, and agricultural loans for the Parsons market. This role serves as a primary point of contact for borrowers seeking credit, building trust-based relationships that support customers’ financial goals and drive long-term portfolio growth. The Loan Officer partners closely with DCB’s in-house Mortgage Officer to connect customers with the right product for their needs, and actively represents the bank in the Parsons community through civic engagement and relationship development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lending & Portfolio Management
- Originate, underwrite, and manage a balanced portfolio of consumer, commercial, and agricultural loans.
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and collateral documentation to make sound credit decisions in accordance with bank policy.
- Prepare and present complete loan packages for appropriate approval authority.
- Monitor existing portfolio for risk, covenant compliance, maturity dates, and documentation exceptions.
- Manage the full loan lifecycle from application through payoff, coordinating with loan operations to ensure timely and compliant closings.
- Maintain accurate and complete records in the loan origination system (MeridianLink).
Mortgage Referral Partnership
- Identify residential mortgage needs among consumer and commercial customers and refer them promptly to DCB’s in-house Mortgage Officer.
- Maintain a working knowledge of DCB’s mortgage products to facilitate warm, informed referrals.
- Collaborate with the Mortgage Officer to ensure a seamless customer experience across lending channels.
Customer Relationships
- Develop and grow a book of business through proactive outreach, referrals, and ongoing relationship deepening.
- Serve as a trusted financial resource for individuals, business owners, and farmers in the Parsons area.
- Identify cross-sell opportunities and connect customers with appropriate DCB products, services, and team members.
- Provide responsive communication throughout the loan process, including follow-up on outstanding documentation and status updates.
Community Involvement
- Actively participate in civic organizations, local events, and community initiatives in the Parsons and Decatur County area.
- Represent DCB at chamber events, agricultural associations, service clubs, and business networking opportunities.
- Contribute to the bank’s reputation as a committed community partner and preferred lender.
Compliance & Operations
- Ensure all lending activity complies with applicable regulations including ECOA, TILA, HMDA, BSA/AML, Reg B, and bank credit policy.
- Maintain active NMLS registration and complete required continuing education annually.
- Follow all branch policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by lending or branch management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of lending experience, preferably in consumer or commercial credit at a community bank.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information, assess creditworthiness, and make sound lending decisions.
- Active NMLS registration or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain loan terms clearly to customers.
- Proficiency with standard business software including Microsoft Office; experience with MeridianLink or a comparable loan origination system is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple active loan files concurrently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Established relationships or roots in the Parsons, Decatur County, or surrounding West Tennessee community.
- Familiarity with ComplianceOne or similar loan documentation platform.
- Familiarity with Fiserv Premier or comparable core banking platform.
- Experience with HMDA reporting requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
