Job Summary

The Crisis Response Specialist has overall responsibility for the development of emergency and disaster preparedness plans, training of all personnel, scheduling and coordinating drills with school district personnel and other agency personnel, determining the need for emergency preparedness supplies, recommending and maintaining inventory; and implementing, monitoring and training personnel on Behavior Threat Assessment. The Crisis Response Specialist shall ensure the District complies with all laws and regulations as related to emergency preparedness. Location: District Office Department: Student Wellness & Support Services Hours/Day: 8 hours/day Days/Week: 5 days/week Months/Year: 12 months/year **NOTE** This position is grant-funded, and employment is dependent on the continuation or renewal of the funding. The expected duration of employment will be determined by the available grant funds, with the possibility of renewal or extension based on future funding. *** for details ***

Requirements / QualificationsEducation Required: Graduation with an AA Degree from a recognized college or university with a major field in safety, civil defense, emergency planning, emergency services (involving crisis management), or a related area, is required. Additional responsible experience analyzing and applying laws, policies and procedures related to safety, disaster preparedness and/or civil defense may be substituted for all or part of the required AA degree or equivalent of sixty (60) semester units on the basis of one (1) year of full-time experience being equal to thirty (30) semester units of college courses in analyzing and applying laws, policies and procedures related to safety, disaster preparedness and/or civil defense or related field. Preferred graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university with a major field in safety, civil defense, emergency planning, emergency services (involving crisis management), or a related area. Experience Required: Two (2) years of recent full-time paid experience analyzing and applying laws, policies and procedures related to safety, disaster preparedness and/or civil defense, is required. Preferred: K-12 experience. Physical Requirements: Employees must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of a position with or without reasonable accommodation and without hazard to themselves or others. Special License or Language: A valid Class C California Driver’s license is required. The ability to speak, read and write another language such as Spanish or Armenian in addition to English is desirable.
