Job Title:

Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager – Skilled Nursing Facilities

Position Summary:

The Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the full revenue cycle and AR operations for a portfolio of seven skilled nursing facilities. This role ensures timely billing, collections, and reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and Private Pay sources while maintaining compliance with all federal and state regulations.

The AR Manager will lead business office functions, drive cash collections, reduce AR aging, and collaborate with facility leadership to optimize financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:Revenue Cycle Management

Oversee the entire billing and collections process for all 7 facilities
Ensure accurate and timely submission of claims to:
Medicare (Part A & B)
Medicaid
Managed Care / HMO / PPO
Private Pay
Monitor billing edits, rejections, and denials and ensure timely resolution

Accounts Receivable Oversight

Manage AR aging and maintain targeted collection benchmarks
Reduce outstanding AR >90 days and improve cash flow
Analyze trends and identify barriers to reimbursement
Conduct routine AR reviews with facility business office staff

Collections & Follow-Up

Oversee insurance follow-up and appeals process
Ensure timely collection of outstanding balances
Work closely with payers to resolve payment discrepancies

Leadership & Staff Management

Supervise along with Regional Business Office Manger the Business Office Managers (BOMs) and AR staff across all facilities
Provide training, coaching, and performance management
Conduct routine audits to ensure compliance and accuracy

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

Ensure adherence to CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and state guidelines
Maintain compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
Stay current with reimbursement changes and industry updates

Reporting & Financial Analysis

Prepare and present weekly/monthly AR reports, including:
Aging reports
Cash collections
Denial trends
Key performance indicators (KPIs)
Provide actionable insights to leadership to improve financial outcomes

Interdepartmental Collaboration

Partner with Regional Business of Manger, Admissions, MDS, Nursing, and Case Management teams
Ensure accurate payer source verification and authorizations
Support census growth by ensuring clean and efficient billing processes

Qualifications:Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field (preferred)
Minimum 3–5 years of AR management experience in skilled nursing facilities
Strong knowledge of SNF billing, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care

Skills & Competencies

Expertise in SNF billing systems (e.g., PCC, MatrixCare, or equivalent)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to manage multiple facilities and priorities
Excellent leadership and team management skills
Advanced knowledge of AR aging, collections strategies, and reimbursement processes
Strong communication and organizational skills
