Full Job Description

We seek a Texas-licensed physician to serve as medical director and collaborate with our MSO, overseeing clinical protocols and quality initiatives. Responsibilities: provide medical leadership, collaborate with nurse practitioners and staff, develop care protocols, support compliance and participate in strategic growth, with optional patient visits (initial and per family request)

Qualifications: MD or DO with active Texas license, preferably board certified internal, family, or geriatric medicine. What we offer ~ long-term leadership and/or ownership opportunity, flexible schedule, MSO support services, and competitive compensation based on patient census and volume. Compensation: Initially we will start between 1,500-2,500/month medical retainer fee. An as the companies census increases, we will re-evaluate and increase the medical retainer fee to 2500 - 3500/month plus additional pay and mileage reimbursements for patient visits.

Provide comprehensive primary care services directly to patients in their homes, treating a diverse range of medical conditions with compassion and professionalism.
Lead clinical operations, including developing protocols aligned with NCQA standards and healthcare compliance regulations such as HIPAA and FDA guidelines and the corporate practice of medicine.
Oversee medical records management, ensuring accurate documentation within EMR/EHR systems (Athenahealth) and adherence to medical terminology standards.
Manage utilization review processes and participate in quality improvement initiatives to optimize positive patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency.
Supervise clinical staff, including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, fostering a collaborative environment focused on excellent patient care.
Ensure compliance with drug enforcement regulations (DEA), HIPAA privacy rules, and other federal/state healthcare laws while maintaining high standards of safety and confidentiality.
Engage in practice management activities such as budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning to support sustainable growth of the program.
Stay abreast of advancements in clinical research, physiology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical development to continuously elevate the quality of care provided.

Skills

Extensive knowledge with EMR systems and electronic health records (EHR) management for seamless documentation and data analysis.
Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA, FDA regulations, NCQA standards, and managed care policies.
Proven leadership skills in medical management, academic leadership, and executive roles within healthcare settings.
Demonstrated proficiency in project management, quality improvement initiatives, and utilization management processes.
In-depth understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical development to inform evidence-based practices.
Experience supervising clinical teams within hospital or outpatient environments with post-residency or teaching backgrounds preferred.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and community stakeholders.
Ability to navigate complex healthcare systems while maintaining compliance with drug enforcement (DEA) regulations and healthcare laws.
