Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Coordinator to support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, reducing workplace incidents, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting continuous improvement efforts throughout the facility.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manufacturing safety, risk management, OSHA compliance, employee training, incident investigation, and contractor management systems.

Key Responsibilities

Support plant-wide efforts to reduce safety incidents and prevent injuries, illnesses, and property damage.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
Administer and maintain EHS policies, procedures, written programs, and training records.
Coordinate new hire safety orientation and ongoing employee safety training programs.
Monitor training compliance and ensure all certifications remain current.
Conduct facility safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain OSHA records and key safety metrics, including:
OSHA 300 Logs
Total Case Incident Rate (TCIR)
DART Rate
Accident Investigation Documentation
Develop and administer safety incentive programs and safety improvement initiatives.
Partner with management to strengthen and sustain a positive safety culture.
Interface with regulatory agencies, consultants, contractors, and vendors as required.
Manage contractor compliance platforms including ISNetworld, Avetta, and other customer-specific safety portals.
Prepare and deliver accurate reports and recommendations to management.
Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety performance and risk reduction.
Monitor safety practices involving heavy manufacturing equipment, rigging operations, and automated production machinery.

QualificationsRequired

Associate Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Minimum 7 years of EHS or safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 years of experience managing safety and risk management programs.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable state and local safety requirements.
Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action programs.
Experience managing contractor compliance systems such as ISNetworld and Avetta.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
High attention to detail and strong time management skills.
TWIC Card.

Preferred

OSHA 30 Certification.
CPR and First Aid Certification.
Local Safety Council Basic Plus Certification.
Lean Manufacturing experience; Green Belt certification preferred.
Experience teaching safety, OSHA, and first aid courses.

Physical Requirements

This position requires work in an active manufacturing environment and includes:

Frequent walking throughout production, warehouse, and distribution areas.
Prolonged standing.
Bending, lifting, and moving materials as needed.
Working around large machinery, rigging operations, and automated manufacturing equipment.
Maintaining awareness of safety risks associated with heavy industrial operations.
