Support Staff – Entry-Level (Substance Use Disorder Program)

Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
Status: Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Location: Anaheim, CA 92801 (In Person)

About Us

The Lighthouse, Inc. is a licensed and accredited substance use disorder treatment provider dedicated to supporting individuals in their recovery journey. Our programs operate in compliance with DHCS Drug Medi-Cal (DMC) regulations, CARF standards, and all applicable state and county requirements. We provide compassionate, structured, and client-centered care while maintaining the highest standards of accountability, ethics, and professionalism.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Support Staff – Level I to join our multidisciplinary treatment team. This entry-level position supports clients receiving DMC-funded and non-DMC services. Support Staff are essential to maintaining a safe, structured, and recovery-oriented environment while assisting clients with daily activities, monitoring, documentation, and coordination with the clinical team in alignment with DMC allowable services.

Key Responsibilities

Observe, document, and report medication administration and vital signs in accordance with program policies.
Conduct hourly rounds and complete accurate shift-change reports.
Perform urine drug screens and breath alcohol level (BAL) testing per policy.
Facilitate and document peer support and recovery-focused groups as assigned.
Provide treatment orientation to new clients, including program rules, expectations, and DMC participation requirements.
Support clients in adhering to program structure, safety protocols, and recovery goals.
Conduct room and personal searches with dignity, respect, and professionalism.
Communicate behavioral observations and client updates to the clinical team in a timely manner.

Additional Responsibilities

Administer first aid and CPR as needed.
Assist with withdrawal management services, including monitoring symptoms, completing observations, and documenting client progress in compliance with DMC standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support program and operational needs.

Required Qualifications

Current registration as a Substance Use Disorder Technician, Student, Counselor, or Peer Support Specialist with a DHCS-recognized certifying organization (RADT, SUDRC, CADC, Peer Support Specialist, or equivalent).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of one (1) year of sobriety if in recovery.
Basic understanding of substance use disorders and the addiction disease process.
Strong communication, time-management, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards in a regulated treatment environment.

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of experience in a substance use disorder, behavioral health, or residential treatment setting.
Enrollment in or completion of coursework in Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or a related field.
Familiarity with treatment facility operations and recovery-focused topics such as mental health, life skills, grief, anger management, or vocational support.
Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
Basic computer literacy and documentation skills.

Physical Requirements

Sitting: Up to 3 hours/day
Standing: Up to 2 hours/day
Walking: Up to 3 hours/day
Driving: Occasionally

Schedule & Shift Availability

8-hour shifts
Morning shift, swing shift, and overnight shift available
Weekends as needed
