Full Job Description

The Radiology Technologist performs computerized tomography (CT) and radiology exams to produce diagnostic radiographs (X-Rays) and scans of body for diagnosis of medical issues as directed by the designated physician.

Utilizes Computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patient's internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues.
Evaluates medical information to determine patients' risk factors, such as allergies to contrast agents, or to make decisions regarding the appropriateness of procedures.
Provide counseling to radiologic patients to explain the processes, risks, benefits, or alternative diagnostic testing.
Maintains knowledge of basic equipment operations and is familiar with the operational manuals of the equipment utilized by the company.
Performs and documents daily and monthly controls on equipment as per facility policy.
Must be able to accurately interpret and execute physician image/scanning instructions, physician orders, safely administer contrasts materials, prepare and operate the computerized tomography (CT) scanning equipment and position the patient to capture the appropriate images.
Must utilize proper safety procedures as not to create an overexposure scenario for both employee and patient. This includes but is not limited to proper use of peak kilovoltage (KVP) and milliamps per second (MAS) as designated in protocols.
Prepares patients appropriately for procedures as ordered by the physician and in accordance with the policy and procedures of the facility.
Maintains current knowledge of diagnostic procedures performed in the radiology department for both computerized tomography (CT) and x-rays.
Possesses basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology required to provide computerized tomography (CT) and x-rays.
Able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in conditions or response to treatment of patients.
Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies the RN and/or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to medications, treatments, and significant incidents.
Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs and report's findings to the RN.
Responds to life saving situations based on skill and training levels, policies, procedures, and protocol. Uses equipment according to the manufacture's guidelines including but not limited to proper start-up and shut-down of equipment.
Assist in the minor maintenance of all equipment in the department including cleaning and minor repairs.
Facilitates department operations through completion of all patient logs, procedure requisitions, and other paperwork, either through the computer system or via manual system.
Maintain awareness of current facility and department operational policies and procedures which impact position responsibilities.
Participates in the facility quality improvement activities.
Maintains order and assist routinely with the general maintenance and cleanliness of facility including but not limited to sanitizing patient care areas, making beds and maintaining a safe work environment.
Interact professionally with peer employees, doctors, administration and other business contacts.
Ensure an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment, assisting costs containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
Remains flexible relative to changing staffing patterns; participates in temporary assignments; regular attendance; compliance with attendance standards; regularly attends required staff meetings. Demonstrates flexibility when changes in assignments are necessary.
Maintain awareness of all current operational policies and procedures which impact position responsibilities to include but not limited to HIPAA, Life Safety and environment of care policies.
Maintain safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients, other personnel, and self. Appropriate application of time, distance, and shielding.
Based on job responsibilities, performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical and health care errors.
Maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with facility standards.
Conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and saliva. Completes appropriate routing, handling, and processing of various medical specimens including proper labeling. Performs tests in an accurate and timely manner.
Ensures that patients are transported safely, in accordance with company policy and procedures, to and from the radiology department.
Radiology Technologists are expected to perform tasks and duties outside of what may be viewed as traditional assignments for Radiology Technologist.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay: From $40.00 per hour
