About Dog Days Pet Care
Dog Days Pet Care is a locally owned, five-star rated pet care company that has proudly served Central Suffolk County for more than 10 years.
We've built our reputation by providing premium in-home pet care with exceptional customer service while giving families complete peace of mind when they're away from the pets they love.
Our team provides professional pet care throughout Central Suffolk County while also supporting our home-based daily operations. Depending on the day's schedule, you may care for pets in clients' homes, assist with pets in our care, or both. Every day is a little different—and that's one of the things our team enjoys most.
As our company continues to grow, we're looking for another outstanding team member who shares our passion for providing exceptional care.
The Responsibility
- Professional pet care is about much more than feeding pets or taking dogs for walks.
- It's about earning and protecting the trust our clients place in us every single day.
- We're looking for people who understand that the smallest details matter.
- A medication given late...
- A missed feeding instruction...
- An unlocked gate...
- An overlooked client request...
- A forgotten alarm...
- These may seem like small details, but they can have a significant impact on the pets and families who trust us.
- If you're someone who naturally pays attention to details, follows instructions carefully, and takes pride in doing things the right way, you'll fit in well here.
What You'll Be Doing
- Every day is different, and that's one of the things that makes this position so rewarding.
- On any given day, you may be:
- Walking dogs throughout our service area.
- Caring for dogs, cats, and small animals in clients' homes.
- Assisting with pets as part of our home-based daily operations.
- Preparing meals and refreshing water.
- Administering medications exactly as instructed.
- Cleaning litter boxes and picking up pet waste.
- Sending detailed visit report cards and photos to clients.
- Driving between visits throughout Central Suffolk County.
- Providing companionship, enrichment, exercise, and lots of love.
- Whether you're comforting a nervous rescue, caring for a senior pet, or entertaining an energetic puppy, every visit helps provide a family with complete peace of mind.
What It Takes to Succeed
- The people who thrive at Dog Days Pet Care are dependable, observant, accountable, and genuinely care about doing the little things right.
- To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- To be at least 21 years of age.
- A reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license.
- A smartphone (iPhone or Android).
- A short commute to the Sayville area and surrounding communities.
- The confidence to comfortably handle both small and large dogs.
- The ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.
- Excellent communication and time-management skills.
- The ability to carefully follow detailed pet care instructions, medication protocols, feeding routines, and client requests exactly as provided.
- Complete a detailed background check.
- Accountability, compassion, and a willingness to learn are just as important.
- The best team members aren't perfect—they're dependable, observant, accountable, and willing to ask questions when they're unsure.
Scheduling & Availability
- Our clients rely on us during vacations, business trips, long workdays, weekends, and holidays, so flexibility is an important part of this position.
- This is not a traditional Monday through Friday, 9-to-5 job.
- Our team members receive their schedules in advance. Occasionally, adjustments may be necessary due to new client reservations, schedule changes, or unexpected business needs. We do our best to communicate those changes as early as possible.
- Applicants with broader availability—including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays—will generally have the greatest opportunities for hours and scheduling. However, we welcome applicants with more limited availability, as we're always looking to build a well-rounded team.
- During training, you'll work alongside experienced team members while learning our care standards, systems, and expectations through comprehensive paid training.
