Pay: $17-$19 + tips
Location: Mahwah, NJ
Schedule: Includes weekend shifts
Certification: Must have or obtain ServSafe Manager (or equivalent) certification within 60 days of hire

About Us

Longfellow’s Coffee is a small, community-focused café and coffeehouse in Mahwah, New Jersey. We serve a wide variety of high-quality coffees, espresso drinks, teas, smoothies, and specialty beverages, alongside an eclectic menu of made-to-order food and treats.

Our Mahwah location also supports our sister store in Kinnelon by producing house-made flavored syrups, pastries, and other food items. Longfellow’s Coffee operates a scratch kitchen, meaning the majority of our syrups, breads, pastries, and menu items are made on-site from raw ingredients.

Responsibilities

Set up and break down kitchen workstations
Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and dietary requirements
Bake breads, pastries, and other house-made items
Prepare flavored syrups and sauces for the coffee bar
Ensure food is prepared efficiently and meets quality and consistency standards
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures
Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth daily operations
Accurately follow established recipes and contribute ideas to new menu creations
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Occasionally take customer orders and interact with guests as needed

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar culinary role
Solid understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen terminology
Ability to accurately follow recipes and dietary guidelines
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Must have, or be willing to obtain, ServSafe Manager (or equivalent) certification within 60 days of hire
