Full Job Description

Overview
Lake Valhalla Club is seeking an experienced, energetic and service-oriented Catering Captain to oversee the execution of private events, member functions, and Club-sponsored activities. The Catering Captain serves as the on-site leader during events, ensuring exceptional member and guest service while coordinating banquet staff and maintaining the Club's high standards of hospitality.

This position works closely with the Food & Beverage Director, Dining Room Manager & Executive Chef and event hosts to ensure every event is executed professionally and efficiently. A la Carte experience is also necessary for the candidate as well.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the setup, execution, and breakdown of weddings, banquets, private parties, corporate events, and Club functions.
Supervise banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff during events.
Conduct pre-event staff meetings to review event timelines, assignments, menus, and service expectations.
Ensure banquet rooms, patios, beach areas, and event spaces are properly set according to event specifications.
Coordinate food service with the culinary team to ensure timely and accurate meal service.
Monitor the quality and presentation of food and beverage service throughout each event.

Qualifications

Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or country club experience preferred.
Supervisory or leadership experience in hospitality strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to outstanding customer service.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively during events.
Knowledge of banquet service standards and food safety practices.
A la carte dining experience is required. Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of upscale table service, menu knowledge, wine and beverage service, and member-focused hospitality.

Schedule

Evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.
Flexible schedule based on the Club's event calendar.
Additional hours during peak season.
