Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented General Construction/Excavation Estimator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs, preparing bids, and managing budgets for a variety of construction and excavation projects. Your expertise will help ensure project profitability, competitive pricing, and seamless project execution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your construction experience and estimating skills to contribute to high-quality infrastructure development.

Duties

Review and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and blueprints to determine material and labor requirements
Develop detailed cost estimates for excavation, grading, site preparation, and general construction projects using industry-standard software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam
Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that include pricing, scope of work, and schedule estimates
Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to secure favorable terms while maintaining project integrity
Manage project budgets by monitoring costs, controlling expenses, and implementing cost-saving strategies throughout the project lifecycle
Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to review contracts, scope changes, and technical documentation
Utilize Xactimate and other estimating tools to accurately forecast material needs and labor hours from blueprints and technical drawings

Skills

Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on general contracting and/or excavation or heavy civil projects
Strong knowledge of construction drawing review and interpretation of technical specifications. Must be able to read plans
Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Xactimate, Bluebeam, BidToWin and related tools
Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Solid understanding of construction site operations, safety protocols, and project management principles
Effective communication skills for collaborating with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams

Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
