About FabTek Industries
FabTek Industries is a heavy-duty metal fabricator serving the electrical power industry. We build transformer tanks, enclosures, bus ducts, substation structures, and switchgear for leading utility OEMs, EPC contractors, and data-center developers. Our work keeps the grid running — and demand for it has never been higher.
About the Role
We're looking for experienced fitters to join our night shift team in Pearl, MS. You'll lay out, fit, and tack carbon steel fabrications ranging from precision transformer tanks and enclosures to heavy structural steel. Fitters set the pace and the quality of everything that follows — if you can read a drawing, hold a tolerance, and put steel together right the first time, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Do
- Lay out, fit, and tack carbon steel plate and structural assemblies from blueprints and shop drawings
- Fit transformer tanks, enclosures, and structural weldments to drawing dimensions and tolerances
- Interpret weld symbols, layout marks, and dimensional callouts, and plan fit-up sequence to control distortion
- Square, level, and align components using tape measures, squares, levels, and layout tools
- Use oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, grinding, and beveling equipment to prep and correct parts
- Tack weld assemblies for weld-out and coordinate handoff with welders
- Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and material handling equipment safely
- Check your own fit-up against drawings and catch dimensional issues before weld-out
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all shop safety procedures
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 3+ years of fitting experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
- Strong blueprint reading — dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, and views
- Proficiency with layout tools, squares, levels, and tape measures
- Ability to tack weld (MIG/flux-core) cleanly and consistently
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a shop environment
- Reliable attendance — night shift depends on a full crew
Preferred:
- Ability to weld out your own work (MIG/flux-core)
- Experience fitting tanks, vessels, or leak-tight fabrications
- Experience with heavy structural steel fabrication (beams, columns, substation structures)
- Oxy-fuel and plasma cutting experience
- Forklift and overhead crane experience
- AWS certification (D1.1 or similar)
Why FabTek
- $25–$30/hour starting pay, based on skill and fit-up test results
- 3-day weekends, every week — 4 nights on, 3 off
- Night shift differential built into the rate
- Consistent, full-time hours
- Growing company with a strong backlog serving the booming power and data-center markets
- Advancement paths into lead, inspection, and supervisory roles
How to Apply
Apply with your work history, or come by the shop for a fit-up test. Certifications and references are a plus, but your layout and fit-up skills speak loudest — every candidate fits before we hire.
