Job description:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the general supervision of the Food Service Supervisor (FSS), the Food Service Worker (FSW) will complete the day-to-day activities of the kitchen which involves preparing/cooking quality nutritional meals and serving them in a friendly, courteous manner and that the department is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. Utilizes food preparation methods, portion sizes and presentation of food in order to ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner. This position is regularly active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing over 20 pounds. S/he must have full working knowledge of all food service policy and procedures as well as the OTDA, OCFS, CACFP, OSHA, Department of Health and Department of Social Service regulations and guidelines. This position is in a human service Agency that is open 24/7, 365 days a year. Holiday, evening, and weekend shifts are required as scheduled.

AVAILABLE SHIFTS:
Full-time schedule:

Monday and Sunday: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM/ Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM/ Friday and Saturday: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Sunday - Thursday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Part-time schedule:

Friday - Saturday: 3:00 PM - 7:00PM

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

High School Diploma or GED; Culinary School Certificate or Degree a plus.
Experience in high-volume food production, institutional food service, or catering.
Prior hands-on cooking experience in a professional kitchen is required; delivery or non-cooking food service experience alone will not meet this qualification.
Must have and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license.
Must be SERV Safe Certified (within 30 days of hire and then upon expiration).
TB Test within 30 days of hire, and then annually.
Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills (friendly, courteous, helpful, and able to work as part of a team).
Ability to function independently and demonstrate flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work with residents, staff, and support agencies.
Ability to use MS Word, Excel, and email.

Pay: $21.00 per hour
