Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 1, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Please be advised of the following additional pay benefits individuals may be eligible for:

Employees who are employed at Pelican Bay State Prison (PBSP) for 12 consecutive qualifying pay periods will receive an annual $2600 recruitment and retention bonus.

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer or the Chief Support Executive, the Analyst I gathers, researches, and analyzes information to resolve the less complex issues or requests for information and revises or implements the less complex policies and procedures. The Analyst I performs a wide variety of analytical duties and responsibilities that require the knowledge of Department regulations, policies and procedures, good judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively. The Analyst I prepares reports, correspondence, collects data, tracks information, monitors tracking systems, makes recommendations to management, and implements processes and procedures. The Analyst I supports the overall mission and immediate goals of the institution and performs duties as necessary to provide better delivery of program services.

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer or the Chief Support Executive, the Analyst II gathers, researches, and analyzes information to resolve issues, respond to requests for information, and prepare or implement new policies and procedures. The Analyst II independently performs a wide variety of complex analytical duties and responsibilities that require the knowledge of Department regulations, policies and procedures, good judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively. The Analyst II prepares reports and correspondence, collects data, tracks information, and monitors tracking systems. The Analyst II makes recommendations to management and implements processes and procedures. The Analyst II supports the overall mission and immediate goals of the institution and performs duties as necessary to provide better delivery of program services.

Minimum Qualifications - Analyst I

Candidates who are within six months of satisfying the experience requirement will be admitted to the examination, but they must fully meet the experience requirement before being eligible for appointment.

Four years of work experience performing analytical, technical, clerical, and/or customer service duties. Academic education from an accredited college/university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Minimum Qualifications - Analyst II

An additional year of professional analytical and/or technical experience equivalent to an Analyst I, Range C.

Located along the Pacific coast, among redwoods and pristine rivers, and just 20 miles from the Oregon border, Pelican Bay State Prison's (PBSP) mission is to provide constitutional medical, dental, and mental health care, in a timely, safe, and efficient manner, while addressing preventative health services, chronic disease management, and public health issues, to reduce unnecessary morbidity and mortality, and protect public health by providing patients timely access to safe, efficient, medical care and coordinate the delivery of medical care with mental health, dental, and disability programs. Primary care services are delivered to the outpatient population through six primary care clinics that operate daily. PBSP has a Correctional Treatment Center (CTC) for inpatient services, and an Urgent Treatment Area (UTA) both operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Candidates new to CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting.

Tuberculosis (TB) testing is required for candidates new to CCHCS prior to appointment followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.

Applicants who completed their education outside of the US (with foreign degrees/transcripts) must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency. Foreign education credential evaluation services can be found at NACES | National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
