Junior Systems Administrator

Role:
Responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing the organization's IT infrastructure to ensure reliable and efficient operations. Key responsibilities include installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting servers, networks, systems, and software; responding to help desk requests; managing user accounts, access, and permissions; performing system backups, updates, and maintenance; and supporting patch and vulnerability management.
The Junior Systems Administrator is also responsible for maintaining accurate IT asset inventory and ensuring daily data processing tasks are completed successfully within the organization's core banking system. The role requires monitoring system performance, addressing issues promptly, maintaining system security and availability, and supporting business continuity.
Occasional after-hours work may be required to support system maintenance, updates, troubleshooting, or critical operational needs.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
N 35% Provides primary support for the company's network and PC/LAN servers which includes planning, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting network and system hardware and software.
N 20% Responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining an otherwise supporting the Data Processing system, PC hardware and software products, wide area communications, database systems, network and systems security and access controls.
N 10% Participates in short and long-range planning for the department to select and utilize appropriate technologies to meet the evolving needs of the Credit Union and its members.
N 10% Oversees the maintenance of hardware and software at the company's disaster recovery site and provides technical support for disaster recovery testing.
N 10% Responsible for ensuring compliance/regulations are met in all processes with established credit union policies and procedures.
N 10% Directs significant special projects as required. N 5% Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
1. Provide support and training to Credit Union Personnel in the use of hardware and software products.
2. Maintain inventory of Credit Union's hardware and software within 1 day of changes.
3. Ensure prompt response to and recovery from systems and network related production interruptions, across multiple hardware platforms, networks and operating systems.
4. Anticipate system and network security/integrity risks and ensure adequate safeguards are maintained.
5. Ensure credit union licensed PC software remains current by testing and updating software as new versions are released.
6. Identify opportunities to improve services to the credit union and/or its members through use of new products and technologies.
7. Assists on Data Processing related projects with other internal departments.
8. Helps introduce and integrate new technologies into existing environment.
9. Keep Management informed regarding key operating issues affecting the department.
10. Responsible for administration of but not limited to Information Systems such as Active directory, Phones, Opcon automation software, Synergy Imaging, and Symitar Host system.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in
the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as interact professionally with outside vendors and service providers.
Demonstrates patience, professionalism, and strong customer-service skills when assisting end users
and troubleshooting technical issues. Ability to explain technical information clearly to
individuals with varying levels of technical knowledge.
Other Skills
1. Previous data processing experience including networks, PCs, data
communications, mainframe and PC programming and data organization.
2. Strong technical planning, project management, and organizational skills.
3. Ability to communicate technical issues effectively with data processing professionals, vendors, and non-technical users.
4. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to work independently, travel as needed and operate standard office equipment.
6. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and/or stand and utilize a computer workstation, including telephones, keyboard, and visual display monitors, for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry, move, and install computer equipment, including computers, printers, servers, and related IT equipment.
