Full Job Description

Assistant Director of Aircraft Maintenance, Quality Assurance & Compliance

The Assistant Director of Aircraft Maintenance, Quality Assurance & Compliance is a senior leadership role responsible for establishing, managing, and continuously improving the organization’s maintenance quality systems. The position ensures full compliance with FAA regulations, internal policies, and industry standards, while driving safety, airworthiness, and continuous improvement across the maintenance operation. SkyWarrior works on company own aircraft and customer planes in several locations. This role is responsible for both airframe, powerplant and avionics work.

Core Responsibilities – Quality Assurance & Compliance Focus

Quality System Oversight

Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the maintenance Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) programs for company own assets and customer planes.
Maintain and enforce company quality standards, manuals, procedures, and maintenance policies for company own assets and customer planes.
Oversee internal audits, surveillance programs, conformity inspections, and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure all maintenance and avionics activities comply with FAA Part 121/135/145 regulations, AC.43, OEM requirements, and company-approved procedures.
Serve as a secondary liaison with FAA, NTSB, and other regulatory authorities during inspections, audits, and investigations.
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely updates to manuals, training, and maintenance procedures.

Safety & Risk Management

Support and strengthen Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives, including hazard identification, safety reporting, and risk analysis.
Conduct root-cause investigations and lead corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
Promote a safety-first culture throughout the maintenance organization.

Data Integrity & Reporting

Review for compliance all documentation, maintenance and avionics recordkeeping, and configuration control.
Analyze defect trends, reliability metrics, audit results, and KPIs to identify systemic issues and improvement opportunities.
Prepare compliance reports and quality performance summaries for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.

Operational QA Leadership

Coordinate QA support for scheduled inspections, heavy maintenance, line maintenance, avionics installation and unscheduled repairs to the aircraft and avionics.

Training & Workforce Development

Mentor technicians and inspectors, ensuring proficiency in quality standards, documentation practices, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with DOM and Safety and Standardization departments to ensure curriculum accuracy and compliance with FAA requirements.

Qualifications

FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate (A&P) required.
Inspection Authorization (IA).
Note: Must be eligible for IA.
Company may consider candidates that are eligible but need to test for IA.
Extensive experience in aircraft maintenance with strong specialization in Quality Assurance, auditing, or compliance oversight.
In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations, maintenance quality programs, SMS, and reliability systems.
Demonstrated leadership, analytical ability, and exceptional attention to detail.
Strong communication skills for interfacing with regulators, executives, and technical personnel.

Wage: $95,000-$105,000 depending on experience.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
