Position Summary
Vivid Pathology is seeking an innovative, technology-driven Logistics Supervisor to lead and develop our logistics and specimen transportation department. This position is responsible for managing a team of 5–8 people who assist in transport of laboratory specimens, supplies, reports, slides and other materials between Vivid Pathology and its clients throughout the region.
The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader who understands healthcare logistics, customer service, process improvement, and emerging technologies. This individual will play a key role in modernizing operations through the implementation of specimen tracking systems, online ordering solutions, AI-assisted workflow tools, and mobile application development initiatives.
This position is responsible for ensuring the secure, compliant, and efficient movement of all materials while continuously improving departmental performance, technology utilization, and client satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate a team of 5–8 logistics personnel.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, safety, and customer service.
- Monitor productivity, route efficiency, and service levels.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement corrective action when necessary.
- Recruit and onboard new team members as needed.
Logistics & Operations
- Oversee daily transportation of pathology specimens, laboratory supplies, reports, and client materials.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable specimen handling, transportation, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor routes and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost savings.
- Develop contingency plans for service interruptions, weather events, and operational challenges.
- Ensure accurate chain-of-custody and specimen integrity throughout the transportation process.
Technology & Innovation
- Lead the implementation and ongoing management of a specimen and supply tracking system.
- Assist with the development, testing, and deployment of internal and client-facing applications.
- Utilize AI tools and emerging technologies to improve workflow efficiency, reporting, route optimization, and customer communication.
- Evaluate new software platforms and automation opportunities to improve department performance.
- Collaborate with IT and leadership teams on technology initiatives.
Customer Service & Client Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for logistics-related client concerns and service issues.
- Work closely with physician offices, hospitals, clinics, and laboratory personnel to ensure exceptional service.
- Assist in developing online ordering and supply management processes for clients.
- Monitor service metrics and implement improvements based on client feedback.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
- Continuously evaluate workflows and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory regulations, specimen transportation requirements, HIPAA, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting related to logistic operations and departmental performance.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
- Experience managing operational workflows and logistics.
- Proficiency with technology platforms, mobile applications, and Microsoft Office products.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred
- Experience in pathology, laboratory medicine, healthcare logistics, or specimen transportation.
- Knowledge of laboratory specimen handling requirements.
- Experience implementing tracking systems or logistics software.
- Experience with online ordering platforms or inventory management systems.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and workflow automation technologies.
- Experience participating in software or mobile application development projects.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
