Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Unit Manager – Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), where you will lead and coordinate high-quality patient care within a fast-paced clinical environment. This vital role offers the opportunity to oversee nursing operations, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with healthcare standards. As a Unit Manager, you will be the driving force behind fostering a collaborative team atmosphere, optimizing patient outcomes, and maintaining excellence in care delivery. Your leadership will directly impact the well-being of diverse patient populations, including those in acute care, geriatrics, behavioral health, or specialized units such as ICU or pediatric care.

Duties

Supervise and manage nursing staff, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and organizational policies.
Coordinate daily unit activities, including patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation accuracy.
Oversee patient care plans, ensuring comprehensive evaluations and appropriate interventions are implemented efficiently.
Facilitate communication among interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and support staff to promote seamless care transitions.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
Lead quality improvement initiatives by monitoring clinical outcomes and implementing best practices aligned with accreditation standards such as NCQA or JCAHO.
Manage staffing schedules, training programs, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated and competent team.

Requirements

Valid RN or LPN license with current registration in the applicable state.
Proven experience in acute care settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine; critical care experience is highly valued.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems like Cerner or PCC for accurate documentation and data management.
Demonstrated leadership skills with supervising experience in healthcare environments; ability to manage teams effectively.
Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or behavioral health patients.
Competency in performing patient assessments, medication administration including injections and IV insertion, catheterization, and sterile techniques.
Knowledge of ICD-10 coding standards for medical records and utilization review processes.
Excellent communication skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and provide clear guidance to staff.
