Overview

To assist the Cardiologists in performing invasive and diagnostic/interventional cardiac/vascular and electrophysiologic procedures as well as technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation using automated techniques. Providing care to meet patient needs and handle other duties as required and assigned.

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Rad Tech II – Cardiovascular Invasive (Cardiac Cath Lab) to join our advanced cardiovascular imaging team. This role involves performing complex diagnostic and interventional procedures within a Level I Trauma Center environment, supporting cardiology and interventional radiology teams in delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge of cardiac catheterization, interventional cardiology, and related imaging techniques, ensuring precise imaging, patient safety, and adherence to aseptic protocols. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced setting committed to innovative cardiovascular treatment and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

Operate sophisticated medical imaging equipment for cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, and diagnostic procedures within the cath lab.
Assist physicians during procedures such as cardiac stress tests, angiography, and other interventional cardiology interventions.
Monitor vital signs and patient physiology throughout procedures to ensure stability and safety.
Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent infections during invasive procedures.
Utilize Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) for accurate image capture, storage, and retrieval.
Prepare patients for procedures by explaining processes, ensuring comfort, and assessing medical history related to cardiology and trauma.
Support emergency interventions in a Level I Trauma Center setting by providing rapid imaging assistance during critical moments.
Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, equipment usage, and patient responses.
Operate various medical equipment including ultrasound devices for sonography and specialized cath lab tools.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning.
Adhere to all safety protocols related to radiation exposure, infection control, and trauma response.

Experience

Proven experience in interventional radiology or cardiac catheterization within a high-acuity environment such as a Level I Trauma Center or emergency medicine setting.
Demonstrated expertise in cardiovascular imaging techniques including angiography, echocardiography, and sonography.
Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to cardiology, vascular structures, and physiology principles.
Familiarity with medical terminology specific to cardiology and radiology procedures.
Hands-on experience operating complex medical equipment used in the cath lab environment.
Knowledge of PACS systems for image management is essential.
Prior exposure to emergency medicine protocols and trauma response enhances effectiveness in this role.
Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) with specialized training or certification in cardiovascular or interventional radiology preferred.

Required Education:
Associates Degree in Related Field OR Certificate of completion for Radiology Program
Required Certifications & Licensure:
-IEMA (Illinois state) License in Rad Technology, BLS (American Heart Assoc.), ACLS (American Heart Assoc.), ARRT Registration in Radiology
