Courtyard by Marriott Peoria Downtown is seeking a dynamic, solutions‑oriented Executive Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping team and ensure an outstanding guest experience through consistently clean, well‑maintained guestrooms and public spaces. Position Summary
The Executive Housekeeper oversees all aspects of the Housekeeping department, including guestrooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces, to ensure compliance with Courtyard and Marriott brand standards for cleanliness, safety, and service. This leader is responsible for staffing, training, scheduling, inspections, inventory management, and budget adherence, while driving guest satisfaction, quality scores, and operational efficiency. The role requires a proactive, hands‑on leader who partners cross‑functionally with Front Office, Engineering, and other departments to support same‑day room turns, maintenance needs, and overall hotel performance.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Quality
- Direct daily housekeeping operations for guestrooms, corridors, public spaces, storage areas, and laundry (if applicable) to ensure a consistently high level of cleanliness and safety.
- Conduct regular, documented inspections of rooms and public areas; drive corrective actions and follow‑up to meet or exceed brand standards and internal QA expectations.
- Develop, maintain, and execute deep‑clean and preventative cleaning schedules, including brand‑mandated projects and periodic room refreshes.
- Ensure accurate room status updates and coordination with the Front Desk to support efficient check‑in, same‑day turns, and group block management.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Recruit, select, train, and develop housekeeping associates, ensuring each team member understands performance expectations, brand standards, and safety protocols.
- Foster a culture of open communication, radical honesty, and mutual respect, encouraging associates to share ideas, concerns, and feedback to improve operations and guest experience.
- Provide regular coaching, performance evaluations, and, when necessary, corrective action; recognize strong performance and support career development.
- Lead daily huddles or briefings to review priorities, guest feedback, safety reminders, and key property updates.
Guest Service & Brand Standards
- Ensure all rooms and public areas reflect Courtyard and Marriott cleanliness, setup, and amenity placement standards, including bedding presentation and bathroom presentation.
- Model and reinforce Marriott’s service philosophy (e.g., “Connect, Appreciate, Respond, Execute”) in all guest and internal interactions, promoting a welcoming and service‑focused environment.
- Respond promptly and effectively to guest requests, special needs (e.g., allergies, extra amenities), and cleanliness‑related complaints, following through until resolution.
- Prepare for and participate in brand quality assurance audits and internal inspections, maintaining documentation, action plans, and follow‑up on any deficiencies.
Financial Management & Controls
- Develop and manage housekeeping labor schedules to meet productivity targets (e.g., rooms per room attendant, labor hours per occupied room) while maintaining quality levels.
- Monitor and control departmental expenses, including linens, amenities, chemicals, uniforms, and equipment; maintain accurate inventories and cost‑effective ordering processes.
- Review and interpret financial and productivity reports, implementing changes to staffing, processes, or purchasing to achieve budget and KPI goals.
Safety, Compliance & Systems
- Ensure adherence to OSHA and local safety regulations, company safety policies, and loss prevention standards, including proper chemical handling and equipment use.
- Maintain secure and organized storage of supplies, chemicals, and equipment, following manufacturer and company guidelines.
- Use the property management system (PMS) and housekeeping systems to track room status, productivity metrics, and work orders accurately and timely.
- Keep departmental SOPs up to date with Marriott brand standards, ownership/management company policies, and any new cleanliness or safety protocols.
Pre‑Requisite Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of progressive housekeeping experience in a hotel environment, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisor or manager role.
- Prior experience in a branded hotel (Marriott/Courtyard or similar select‑service brand) strongly preferred.

Guest & Brand Metrics
- Guest satisfaction scores related to room cleanliness and overall stay experience (e.g., survey results, intent‑to‑return, online review trends).
- Brand QA and internal inspection scores, including room inspection pass rate and number/severity of deficiencies.
Productivity & Cost
- Rooms cleaned per attendant per shift and labor hours per occupied room compared to targets.
- Housekeeping expenses vs. budget, including supplies cost per occupied room and linen/amenity usage efficiency.
People & Process
- Housekeeping turnover and attendance reliability, including unplanned absences and retention results.
- Completion of required safety and brand training, plus quality and timeliness of room status updates and communication with other departments.
