Job Description: Special Events and McDonald’s Coordinator

The Special Events and McDonald’s Coordinator works with Development Director to manage fundraising events and McDonald’s In-Store Campaigns for Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Illinois (RMHCCI). This position reports directly to the Development Director, who reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The position works closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager and Community Engagement and Development Coordinator. This position assists in the following events: Red Shoe Gala (alternating between Springfield and Peoria each year), Springfield Golf Classic, SWING Golf Outing in Peoria, and other special events. This position manages all in-store campaigns for the McDonald’s stores that support RMHCCI. This includes Round-Up, Give A Little Love, and McDonald’s Thank You Day. This position is eligible for some remote work as approved by the Development Director but some work is required in-person.

What You’ll Do To Drive Success and Get Us To Where We’re Going
So we can Serve More Families, Better, you will
- Support the team in their work to identify, cultivate, steward, and solicit existing and additional donors in RMHCCI’s service area
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy designed to increase the organization’s funding support from individuals, corporations, and events
- Work in conjunction with the Development Director to maintain event contacts, reconcile event income and expenses, and provide financial detail for third party events
- Help to plan, organize, and implement key components of RMHCCI’s fundraising events which would include, but not limited to: registration, venue needs, food and beverage, décor, revenue generating components, and overall organization and success of the event
- Work within budget of each event
- Utilize fundraising software such as Raiser’s Edge and Greater Giving to input information for events, donor information, and organizational contacts
- Maintain positive relationships with McDonald’s Managers and Crews

- Obtain and coordinate with volunteers and committees to ensure the success of each event
- Work with other departments and teammates within RMHCCI to accomplish tasks
- Collaborate within RMHCCI by monitoring and responding to throughout the day
- Conduct tours of RMHCCI and present at public speaking engagements as needed.
- Assist with collecting family stories and photos and securing thank you notes from families for marketing and development purposes
- Coordinate with Operations to manage and fulfil in-kind contributions and steward volunteers into donors

What You Bring To The Table
- Family safety and security are paramount to RMHCCI—you can successfully clear any pre-employment drug screen, background check, and driver’s license requirements
- Reliable transportation or dependable support to be able to arrive on time for every scheduled shift
- Friendly and helpful attitude—interaction with our families is encouraged; there will be times when the team is assisting others, and you may need to answer the phone or welcome someone into the House and direct them where to go
- Computer proficiency, including familiarity with MS Office products, Raiser’s Edge donor database, and Greater Giving or other event software.
- Desire to work independently while also being a team player - you’ll have your tasks to complete, but we all jump in and help each other when things get busy
- Demonstrates initiative and proactively identifies opportunities to contribute
- The ability to “read” and interpret the verbal and nonverbal cues—our families are navigating highly stressful journeys and we all need to support them respectfully.
- A bachelor’s degree and 1 to 3 years of experience in event planning, community relations or people engagement roles
- Valid driver’s license
- Polished verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact well with the public, board members, volunteers and our team
- Maintain positive relationships with all RMHCCI stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm in hectic situations
- Physical ability to set up and teardown events so there is a lot of lifting, loading, and moving of at least 30 pounds
