Basic Purpose: To serve the residents of the Atrium Community and ensure they are eating healthy, well balanced, fresh, creative, and safely prepared foods on a daily basis. To uphold the mission statement of the Atrium and treat everyone with compassion and respect as well as a standard of quality in food, appearance, and overall atmosphere.

Job Summary: To prepare safe, appealing, and appetizing food, while ensuring that it is served to all residents/guests of the Atrium in a timely manner while following all dietary and therapeutic diet restrictions in a accordance with State and Health Department regulations. To maintain a clean environment for food preparation and service.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum of 1-year cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing, assisted living, or other related facility

Serve Safe Certification or the ability to become Certified within 6 months of hire

Some basic computer skills preferred

Required Skills:

· Must be self-motivated

· Ability to understand and follow recipes and food menus

· Willingness to expand cooking skills as needed

· Ability to correctly use kitchen equipment in a safe manor at all times

· Ability to think, act, and intervene independently in both daily routine and in emergencies

· Experience cooking a variety of foods in large quantities

· Ability to work with others in the kitchen as a team

· Must be passionate/compassionate about working with a senior population

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Compliance with all Atrium policies, procedures, rules, and regulations

· Review menus prior to food preparation

· Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus and in a timely manor

· Prepare food items that are palatable and appetizing in appearance

· Communicate menu changes

· Ensure that food service and dietary staff adhere to all state and health department regulations

· Order food, equipment, and other supplies when necessary

· Put away food orders in accordance to food safety regulations

· Prepare/serve food substitutions to residents or guests that request alternatives

· Prepare/serve food for therapeutic diets and dietary restrictions

· Ensure that dietary restrictions are stickily adhered to at all times

· Clean and maintain kitchen equipment

· Clean and maintain a food safe kitchen at all times

· Adhere to food safety regulations at all times

· Ensure all equipment is being turned on and off at appropriate times

· Supervise Dining Room and Dietary Staff to ensure that Atrium standards are being met

· Attend and participate in required Atrium meetings and trainings

· Assist with preparation and food for all parties and events

· Complete all other duties as assigned
