Holiday Inn Express & Suites Perry National Fairgrounds is seeking a dependable, professional, and guest-focused Night Auditor / Front Desk Clerk to join our team.
The Night Auditor plays an important role in both our Front Desk operation and the hotel's daily accounting process. This position is responsible for providing excellent guest service throughout the overnight shift while also completing the hotel's end-of-day procedures, balancing transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring the property is ready for the following business day.
Because the Night Auditor works with limited supervision during overnight hours, we are looking for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and capable of making sound decisions when management is not immediately on property.
Primary ResponsibilitiesGuest Service & Front Desk Operations
- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to all guests.
- Perform guest check-ins and check-outs accurately.
- Assist guests with reservations, room assignments, billing questions, hotel information, and general requests.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and properly route calls or assist callers as needed.
- Monitor hotel availability and assist with same-day and walk-in reservations.
- Handle guest concerns and complaints professionally and make reasonable service-recovery decisions when necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of hotel services, amenities, policies, local attractions, restaurants, and area information.
- Communicate important guest issues, maintenance concerns, or operational information to the appropriate manager and incoming Front Desk team.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor throughout the shift.
Night Audit & Accounting Responsibilities
- Complete the hotel's nightly audit and end-of-day procedures accurately and on time.
- Review and balance guest transactions, payments, room charges, taxes, deposits, and other daily activity.
- Verify Front Desk cash drawers and financial transactions.
- Identify and research discrepancies before completing the audit.
- Review guest accounts and folios for accuracy.
- Process applicable nightly reports and distribute information to management as required.
- Ensure the Property Management System successfully completes the transition to the next business date.
- Prepare the Front Desk and necessary documentation for the morning shift.
- Maintain accurate records and follow hotel procedures regarding cash handling, credit cards, deposits, and confidential guest information.
Overnight Hotel Responsibilities
During overnight hours, the Night Auditor serves as the primary hotel representative on property.
Responsibilities may include:
- Monitoring hotel activity and maintaining awareness of guest and property safety.
- Responding appropriately to guest emergencies, disturbances, noise complaints, lockouts, and other overnight situations.
- Contacting management, emergency services, maintenance, or other appropriate resources when necessary.
- Completing property walks and monitoring common areas as assigned.
- Ensuring lobby and Front Desk areas remain clean, organized, and presentable.
- Assisting with light preparation for morning operations when required.
- Documenting incidents and communicating important information to hotel leadership.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous hotel Front Desk or Night Audit experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
- Previous customer service, hospitality, retail, cash-handling, or accounting experience is beneficial.
- Basic computer proficiency is required.
- Must be comfortable performing basic mathematical calculations and balancing financial transactions.
- Must be able to communicate clearly in English with guests, coworkers, and management.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and remain active during portions of the shift.
- Must be able to work overnight hours consistently.
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are required.
Schedule
This position primarily works overnight/Night Audit shifts.
Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule that may include:
- Overnight shifts
- Weekends
- Holidays
- Additional Front Desk shifts when needed
Hotel operations run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
