Position Summary:
The Quality Control Lead (QC Lead) is responsible for overseeing day-to-day inspection activities within the Part 145 Repair Station to ensure all maintenance, repair, and alteration work complies with FAA regulations, company procedures, and approved technical data.
This role provides leadership to QC Inspectors, supports certification activities, and serves as the primary liaison between production, engineering, and quality to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient aircraft releases.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection Oversight & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance and alteration work is inspected in accordance with FAA Part 145 regulations and the Repair Station Manual (RSM)
- Verify all work is performed using approved data (OEM manuals, SRMs, EOs, STCs, 8110-3 approvals, etc.)
- Ensure proper execution of Required Inspection Items (RII) and critical task inspections
- Maintain full compliance with airworthiness requirements prior to Return to Service (RTS)
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and coordinate daily activities of QC Inspectors
- Assign inspection priorities based on production schedule and project milestones
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to QC personnel
- Support hiring, performance evaluations, and development of QC staff
- Documentation & System Control
- Ensure accurate and complete inspection sign-offs in company systems (CorrPlus and/or Traxxall as applicable)
- Verify all maintenance records, task cards, and inspection documents are properly completed and retained
- Enforce a 100% compliance culture for digital or wet signature buy-offs per regulatory requirements
- Review logbook entries, FAA Form 8130-3, and other release documentation for accuracy
- Interface with Engineering & Certification
- Coordinate with DERs, ODAs, and engineering teams for approvals and technical resolutions
- Support certification activities including 337s, 8110-3s, and conformity inspections
- Ensure modifications and repairs are properly documented and approved prior to execution
- Assist in resolving discrepancies related to engineering data or certification requirements
- Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and report quality escapes, non-conformities, and systemic issues
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives aligned with AS9100 principles
- Assist in internal audits and FAA audits as required
- Operational Support
- Work closely with Production, Planning, and Maintenance teams to ensure efficient workflow without compromising quality
- Participate in daily production meetings and provide QC status updates
- Ensure proper inspection coverage for all shifts and critical operations
Qualifications
Required:
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
- Minimum 5–7 years of aircraft maintenance experience
- Minimum 2–3 years in a Quality Control or Inspection role
- Strong knowledge of FAA Part 145 regulations
- Experience with aircraft maintenance documentation and inspection procedures
Preferred:
- Experience in aircraft completions or modifications (VIP interiors, avionics, structural work)
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience
- Familiarity with digital MRO systems (e.g., CorrPlus, Traxxall)
- Experience working with DER/ODA processes and certification approvals

Working Conditions

Authority
- Authorized to approve or reject maintenance work based on compliance with approved data and regulations
- Authorized to sign off inspections and approve aircraft/components for Return to Service (as delegated)
- Authorized to stop work in cases of safety or regulatory non-compliance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
