A well respected community hospital in Southern New Hampshire is looking for an experienced Birthing Suite Director to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the department. This leader ensures delivery of high quality, patient centered care by managing quality standards, employee engagement, customer relations, and performance metrics.
The Director collaborates with the broader management team to meet departmental goals through thoughtful allocation of human, financial, and technical resources - serving as both department advocate and hospital ambassador.
Responsibilities
Clinical leadership & population-specific care
- Ensures delivery of safe, age-appropriate, and developmentally appropriate care
- Upholds nursing standards of practice and ensures compliance with hospital policies and state regulations.
Staff management & development
- Recruits, retains, and develops a competent, compassionate team that reflects the values of the organization.
- Conducts regular performance reviews, provides timely feedback, and supports individual growth through mentorship and career development planning.
Communication & culture building
- Fosters an environment of open, honest communication and engages in respectful, constructive dialogue.
- Promotes a culture of safety through non-punitive reporting of safety concerns and a hazard-free environment.
Operational oversight
- Directs daily operations and workflow to ensure quality care, efficient service delivery, and optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaborates across departments to align processes with hospital-wide mission, values, and regulatory requirements.
Budget & resource management
- Develops and monitors the departmental budget; analyzes financial data and manages resources in alignment with strategic goals.
- Adjusts staffing and supplies to meet patient care demands while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Patient & customer engagement
- Collects and analyzes patient and staff feedback to improve care experiences and satisfaction.
- Ensures a patient-centered approach through consistent staff communication aligned with customer preferences.
Strategic planning & alignment
- Translates organizational strategies into department-level goals and metrics; evaluates outcomes and adjusts plans as needed.
- Acts as departmental advocate, securing resources and promoting initiatives that advance clinical excellence.
Requirements
- BSN required
- 5+ years of OB or Women's Health clinical experience
- 2+ years of nurse manager / nurse leadership experience in OB and Women's Services
