Teach Safe is seeking a Junior Instructional Designer / Course Creator to help develop engaging, effective online driver education courses.
This role is a strong opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in instructional design, curriculum development, educational technology, and multimedia learning. The Junior Instructional Designer will work with experienced team members to turn curriculum requirements into clear, well-organized online instruction.
Responsibilities include researching course requirements, helping map those requirements to course content, writing and editing student-facing material, organizing lessons into an effective instructional sequence, developing assessments and activities, appearing in instructional video content, and building courses within the Teach Safe platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Course & Curriculum Development
- Research driver education curriculum requirements, statutes, administrative rules, and state-provided standards with guidance from senior team members.
- Assist in creating curriculum maps that connect regulatory requirements and learning objectives to course content.
- Help organize course topics into a logical and effective instructional sequence.
- Identify where concepts should be introduced, reinforced, practiced, and assessed.
- Support reviews to confirm that required curriculum topics are represented in the finished course.
Content Writing & Instructional Design
- Write clear, accurate, student-friendly instructional content.
- Translate technical or regulatory information into language that is easy for students to understand.
- Develop learning objectives, examples, scenarios, knowledge checks, quizzes, and activities.
- Apply instructional design principles to improve learner understanding and engagement.
- Edit and revise content based on feedback from team members and subject matter experts.
- Help update existing courses as requirements or instructional needs change.
Multimedia & Video Development
- Help identify opportunities to use video, graphics, scenarios, and other multimedia to improve instruction.
- Write or assist with scripts for instructional videos.
- Appear on camera as an instructor or presenter for driver education video content.
- Collaborate with other team members on multimedia development.
- Help ensure multimedia is relevant to the learning objective and supports student understanding.
Course Building & Technology
- Build lessons, pages, activities, assessments, and other course components within the Teach Safe online learning platform.
- Upload and organize text, images, audio, video, and interactive content.
- Configure course content and navigation according to established instructional and compliance requirements.
- Test courses from the student's perspective and identify formatting, usability, content, or navigation issues.
- Learn and become proficient with Teach Safe's course-building tools and related technology.
Quality & Course Maintenance
- Proofread and review course content for clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
- Assist with quality assurance before courses are released.
- Maintain organized documentation of curriculum requirements, sources, and course revisions.
- Help update courses when laws, regulations, curriculum standards, or company requirements change.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree or expected/recent degree in Instructional Design, Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Technology, Communications, English, or a related field.
- Very strong writing and editing skills.
- Basic understanding of instructional design principles, including learning objectives, sequencing, assessment, and learner engagement.
- Strong research and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with structured requirements.
- Comfort learning and using new software and technology.
- Comfortable presenting information and appearing on camera in instructional videos.
- Ability to accept feedback and revise work collaboratively.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Preferred
- Coursework, internship, student project, or professional experience involving instructional design or online course development.
- Experience with an LMS, course-authoring tool, website builder, or other educational technology.
- Experience writing educational, technical, or explanatory content.
- Familiarity with accessibility concepts such as captions, alt text, read-aloud content, and accessible document or web design.
- Experience creating video, multimedia, presentations, or digital learning materials.
- Interest in driver education, traffic safety, or regulated education.

Over time, the role is expected to develop greater independence in curriculum mapping, instructional design, content development, multimedia planning, and course building.
Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
