About Us:

Bank of South Texas is committed to delivering exceptional service and creating meaningful, long-term relationships with our customers. We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Universal Teller to join our team. This role combines the responsibilities of a traditional teller with those of a personal banker, giving you the opportunity to serve customers in all aspects of their banking needs.

Position Overview:

The Universal Teller serves as both a front-line representative and a ﬁnancial solutions specialist. In addition to handling daily teller transactions, this role focuses on building strong relationships with customers, uncovering ﬁnancial needs, and oƯering the right banking products and services to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform standard teller transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, loan payments,money orders, and cashier’s checks.
Balance cash drawer daily and maintain accurate transaction records.
Open and service new accounts, including checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, and other deposit products.
Assist customers with wire transfers, stop payments, account updates, and other specialized requests.
Proactively engage with customers to identify ﬁnancial needs and recommend appropriate products, services, or solutions.
Build strong customer relationships by providing personalized, consultative service and follow-up.
Educate customers on digital banking tools (online, mobile, bill pay, etc.) and encourage adoption.
Ensure compliance with all bank policies, security standards, and federal regulations.
Support branch operations by assisting with vault, ATM balancing, audits, and other duties as assigned.

Qualiﬁcations:

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or business/ﬁnance coursework preferred.
1+ year of experience in banking, sales, or customer service; prior teller or personal banker experience strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Excellent communication and active listening skills with the ability to recommend tailored solutions.
Demonstrated sales and goal-achievement mindset.
Ability to handle cash with accuracy and attention to detail.
Professional, team-oriented, and customer-ﬁrst attitude.
Proﬁciency with computers; knowledge of banking software is a plus.
