Manager Early Childhood Programs

Classification: Exempt

Reports to: Managing Director of Children and Youth Services

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary:

Staff professional spearheads and oversees the operations of all projects and operations within the early childhood programs department, ensuring efficiency and smooth workflow of all projects and programs. Projects include the Building Early Links for Learning and The Baring House Crisis Nursery. The candidate will work with direct reports to establish, implement, and monitor department goals, operations, budgets and guidelines in alignment with agency strategic goals and company mission. Professionally represents the department during internal/external meetings, community functions, and media coverages, liaising with external business partners, and managing staff. Provides motivation and leadership to management staff of projects and sets positive tone/trauma- responsive work environment that encourages staff to reach goals while implementing the organization’s policies and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Builds and provides leadership and coordination for a unified team of intra-department managers and/or supervisors by developing and maintaining a system of communication, reporting and accountability supporting agency, department, and project goals.
Works collaboratively with agency department heads to ensure cross coordination that bolsters agency goals and enhances customer service for the community of stakeholders.
Works with the development/finance department to ensure programmatic and fiscal reporting to funders are accurate and timely.
Troubleshoots internal challenges that compromise agency success and reputation in a timely manner.
Provides regular written reporting to the Managing Director to ensure quality standards are documented.
Regularly meets with all team members for one-on-one supervision meetings. Offers guidance and trauma-responsive support. Utilizes performance tools to enhance skills as assessed.
Regularly schedules and facilitates BELL and Baring House team meetings and provides support based on need assessments.
Responsible for assuring all staff receive proper training as per funder guidelines.
Adheres to local, State and Federal guidelines, coordinates all external audits and ensures that requirements are met. Write and implement plans of correction as needed.
Completes all performance management documentation and corresponding meetings on a timely basis.
Ability to solve problems with both staff and families, providing direct support and intervention, as well as maintaining open communication and a collaborative approach.
Ensures a healthy environment for all children and staff.
Collaborates with community organizations, schools and agencies to enhance services and support for children.
Advocates effectively for the needs of children in crisis within the community.
Maintains and implements up-to-date knowledge of childcare regulations and best practices.
Proactively maintains outreach for future funding opportunities to sustain programming.
Participates in Agency-wide events and encourages teams to participate also.

Required Education:

Master’s social work or related degree with five (5) years of supervision and management experience within a non-profit environment.

Work Environment:

This position is a hybrid (three days in the office, two remote), with flexible schedule options. Travel to the offices of foundation officials and off-site locations will be required. The position will require routinely using computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment. The position also requires assistance with large gift in-kind drives, and occasional event set up and breakdown.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and listen. The employee is occasionally required to walk, operate objects or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
