Full Job Description

Position Summary

Part-Time Substance Use Counselor will provide direct services to at-risk youth residing in our foster care group home. This position plays a vital role in addressing substance use and co-occurring behavioral health challenges among youth ages [10–21] with histories of trauma, instability, and system involvement.

Location: Philadelphia, Hatboro, and Berks County, Montgomery County

Payrate: $30/hour

Schedule: 4pm-8pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and sometimes Saturdays 10am-4pm

Hours: 10 - 20 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

Provide individual and group counseling focused on substance use prevention, harm reduction, and recovery support.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the youth, residential staff, and other support staff.
Conduct substance use assessments and screenings using standardized tools (e.g., CRAFFT, SASSI).
Facilitate psychoeducational groups on topics such as coping skills, relapse prevention, trauma-informed care, and emotional regulation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with agency, state, and funding requirements.
Support youth in connecting with outside recovery resources, including outpatient treatment programs and peer support groups.
Participate in regular supervision, staff meetings, and training on trauma-informed practices and youth development.
Respond appropriately to crisis situations and escalate concerns per agency protocol.

Qualifications:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field with preference to Bachelor's degree.
Certified or credentialed as a Substance Use Counselor (CADC, CASAC, etc.), or actively working toward certification/licensure.
Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with adolescents and/or vulnerable populations.
Understanding of trauma-informed care and adolescent development.
Ability to work collaboratively in a structured group home environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

Experience working in foster care, residential treatment, or juvenile justice settings.
Bilingual (Spanish/English or other relevant languages).
