Full Job Description

Maryville Integrated Care is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payment posting specialist to support our mission of delivering comprehensive Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Mental Health (MH) treatment services. The Payment posting specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely posting of insurance and patient payments, reconciliation of accounts, and identification of payment variances to ensure the integrity of the revenue cycle.

The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare payment posting and a strong understanding of behavioral health reimbursement processes, including Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance plans.

This position is Monday - Friday 8:30am-4:30pm. This position is remote after in person training.

Essential Responsibilities

Accurately post payments received from insurance companies, patients, and third-party payers into the electronic billing system.
Process Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA), Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT), checks, credit card payments, and lockbox deposits.
Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and remittance advices to ensure accurate payment application.
Reconcile daily payment batches and deposits to ensure all payments are accounted for.
Identify and escalate underpayments, overpayments, denials, take-backs, and other payment discrepancies.
Research unapplied cash and assist with resolution of payment posting variances.
Collaborate with billing, collections, admissions, and clinical teams to resolve account issues and support cash flow objectives.
Maintain detailed payment records and supporting documentation.
Assist with month-end reconciliation and reporting activities.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer regulations, and Maryville policies and procedures.
Support continuous improvement efforts within the revenue cycle department.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of one (1) year of healthcare payment posting, medical billing, accounts receivable, or revenue cycle experience.
Strong data entry and reconciliation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) or more years of payment posting experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, or healthcare settings.
Experience working with SUD and Mental Health treatment billing.
Knowledge of New Jersey Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Medicaid, and commercial payer reimbursement.
Familiarity with behavioral health EHR and billing systems.
Understanding of authorizations, claims adjudication, and denial management processes.

Compensation & Benefits
