Willow Street Pictures creates commissioned portrait artwork of the people and pets our clients love most.
Our photo shoots are immersive, fast-moving, emotionally connected, and highly collaborative. We photograph families, children, and pets in studio, outdoor, and on-location environments while creating a refined and memorable client experience in real time.
We are currently looking for a Creative Photo Shoot Assistant / Photography Production Assistant to support our photography team during live portrait productions throughout the year, especially during peak season. This is not a lead photographer position. It is a collaborative support role within a live creative production environment.
We are looking for someone who naturally brings energy into a room, works well around people and animals, stays aware of constantly changing movement, and enjoys being actively involved in the creative process during live photo shoots.
The role combines elements of photography assisting, production support, lighting assistance, studio support, set awareness, client interaction, and fast-moving creative teamwork. Some shoots are calm and refined. Others move quickly and require constant adaptability, communication, and physical movement throughout the day.
This role may be a strong fit for candidates with backgrounds in photography assisting, studio production, portrait photography, lighting assistance, wedding photography support, hospitality, theater, salons, veterinary environments, fitness instruction, bridal consulting, or other fast-moving client-facing creative environments.
What You’ll Do
- Assist during live studio, outdoor, and on-location portrait photo shoots
- Support the photographer and creative team throughout production
- Help move and position lighting equipment, stands, modifiers, tether stations, and gear
- Assist with photography production flow, set resets, and shoot-day organization
- Maintain awareness of timing, flow, energy, and movement throughout the shoot
- Help create a relaxed, elevated, and enjoyable experience for clients and pets
- Step naturally into support roles as shoots evolve in real time
- Collaborate closely with the creative team in fast-moving environments

Prior experience around portrait photography, studio lighting, photography production, production assistance, or client-facing creative work is strongly preferred, but personality, awareness, energy, and reliability matter just as much.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Part-time flexible scheduling based around photo shoots
- Approximately 6 shoots per month during slower seasons and up to 12+ shoots per month during peak seasons
- Weekday and Saturday availability preferred
- No Sunday or Monday scheduling
- Work takes place primarily in Harleysville, with some shoots at our West Lawn studio and occasional on-location work
- Growth potential exists for the right person as the creative team expands
Requirements
- Reliable transportation required
- Must be comfortable working at both Harleysville and West Lawn locations
- Comfortable lifting and moving lighting equipment and production gear
- Enjoys working closely with dogs and animals of all sizes
- Comfortable being on your feet throughout the day
