Job Summary:
The Technology Manager serves as the organization's primary owner of all end-user technology needs across Victor Security Group and its operating companies. This role is responsible for standing up and managing the full lifecycle of technology equipment requests, device provisioning, mobile device and VOIP phone ordering and configuration, Microsoft 365 user administration, and frontline desktop support. The Technology Manager owns the company's Mobile Device Management (MDM) program — currently administered through IBM MaaS360 with Apple device enrollment via Apple Business Manager (ABM) — and is expected to manage this function at a program level, including the potential future transition to a platform such as Microsoft Intune, ensuring all corporate devices remain properly provisioned, secured, and tracked regardless of underlying tooling. This position also owns the day-to-day relationship with the organization's Managed Service Provider (MSP), serving as the internal point of contact for escalations, service delivery, and vendor accountability as the platform consolidates onto a single MSP partner — including the eventual transition of day-to-day MDM administration to that MSP, with the Technology Manager retaining ongoing oversight. This is a foundational role for a growing, acquisitive platform — the Technology Manager will build the standards, processes, and infrastructure that scale as Victor Security Group adds new operating companies, and will escalate complex or unresolved issues to leadership.
Core Duties include:
Equipment & Asset Management
- Design, document, and stand up the company's first formal technology equipment request and fulfillment process — including intake, approval routing, and fulfillment tracking — and own that process going forward.
- Build and maintain an accurate, centralized asset inventory system for all physical devices across all operating company locations, replacing any ad hoc or entity-specific tracking methods currently in use.
- Establish standardized procurement workflows with approved vendors, including quote requests, purchase approvals, and order tracking; manage the process on an ongoing basis once implemented.
- Build and manage the full device lifecycle program from procurement through decommission, including imaging, deployment, refresh, and retirement standards.
- Create a consistent device assignment and tracking standard by employee, location, and operating company, and maintain it as the single source of truth as the platform grows.
- Design these processes with future acquisitions in mind, ensuring new operating companies can be onboarded into the asset management framework quickly and consistently.
Microsoft 365 User Administration
- Create, configure, and disable Microsoft 365 user accounts for new hires, transfers, and terminations in coordination with HR and People Operations.
- Manage user licenses, group memberships, distribution lists, and security groups within Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Provision and configure Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online mailboxes, SharePoint access, and OneDrive.
- Reset passwords, manage MFA enrollment, and handle account unlock requests in compliance with security policies.
- Establish and maintain naming conventions and account standards across all three operating companies, and apply them consistently to newly acquired entities.
Mobile Device & VOIP Phone Orders and Provisioning
- Process all orders for corporate mobile devices (smartphones, tablets) and VOIP phone hardware across all operating companies and locations.
- Coordinate with mobile carriers and device vendors to obtain quotes, manage carrier accounts, and track order fulfillment.
- Configure and provision desk phones, softphones, and mobile VOIP extensions for new and existing employees.
- Manage auto-attendants, call routing, hunt groups, and voicemail configurations as directed.
- Maintain a phone directory and extension documentation for all locations.
Mobile Device & Endpoint Management (MDM)
- Own and manage the company's Mobile Device Management (MDM) / Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) program across all operating companies, ensuring every corporate mobile device (iOS, Android) and endpoint (Windows, macOS) is properly enrolled, configured, and secured.
- Manage this function using the platform's current MDM solution (IBM MaaS360) and maintain working knowledge of comparable enterprise platforms, including Microsoft Intune, to support a potential future platform transition.
- Administer Apple device enrollment through Apple Business Manager (ABM), including Automated Device Enrollment (ADE / zero-touch deployment), Managed Apple IDs, and bulk app distribution, ensuring new Apple hardware is properly assigned and provisioned.
- Create and maintain device policies, security configurations, compliance rules, and app deployment profiles across the MDM environment.
- Perform remote troubleshooting, remote wipe, and lock/unlock operations on managed devices, and manage full offboarding (remote wipe, account dissociation) for departing employees.
- Monitor compliance dashboards, maintain a clean device inventory, and generate regular reporting on device health and policy adherence.
- Stand up this program as a well-documented, well-run function during the initial phase of this role, with the expectation that day-to-day administration may transition to the company's MSP over time — the Technology Manager will continue to own oversight and vendor accountability for this function even after operational tasks are handed off.
Desktop & End-User Support
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 desktop support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues across all locations.
- Troubleshoot Windows and macOS operating system issues, Office 365 application errors, and peripheral malfunctions.
- Support printer configuration, network drive mapping, and VPN connectivity for remote and on-site employees.
- Log and track all support requests using the company's ticketing system, maintaining accurate documentation of issues and resolutions.
- Develop and maintain how-to guides and end-user knowledge base articles to reduce repeat support tickets.
Issue Escalation & Leadership Communication
- Identify, document, and escalate unresolved or complex technical issues to the SVP of Corporate Operations or appropriate leadership in a timely manner.
- Provide clear, concise written summaries of open issues, root cause, and recommended resolution paths.
- Coordinate with external vendors and technology partners as needed for escalated issues.
- Participate in technology planning discussions and communicate user-level impacts of system changes or outages.
Managed Service Provider (MSP) Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary internal point of contact for Victor Security Group's Managed Service Provider, managing day-to-day service delivery and accountability.
- Lead the operational transition as the platform consolidates onto a single MSP partner across all operating companies, ensuring a smooth onboarding of Windom and Blue Knight onto the unified service model.
- Monitor MSP performance against contractual SLAs, escalating chronic issues or gaps in service quality to leadership.
- Coordinate with the MSP on scheduled maintenance, patching cycles, incident response, and project-based work.
- Act as the internal bridge between end users and MSP technicians, ensuring tickets are being worked appropriately, and users are receiving timely updates.
- Participate in regular MSP service review meetings and provide internal reporting on open incidents, recurring issues, and resolution trends.
- Identify opportunities to optimize the MSP engagement model as the platform's internal IT capabilities mature.
Technology Standards, Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for device provisioning, user onboarding/offboarding, and asset management.
- Ensure all technology practices align with company security policies and applicable data protection requirements.
- Maintain accurate and current documentation for all systems under management, including configurations, credentials (secured), and vendor contacts.
- Support technology due diligence and IT integration workstreams for newly acquired operating companies, including device inventory reconciliation, account migration, and onboarding into the platform's standard technology stack.
- Support broader IT audits and due diligence processes by providing accurate inventory and access records.
- Stay current on updates to MaaS360, ABM, Microsoft 365, and other managed platforms and proactively communicate relevant changes to leadership.
