Full Job Description

MTG Services is currently working with a well‑respected lending organization seeking an experienced Construction Loan Officer to support the origination and execution of construction loan transactions.

Position Overview

The Construction Loan Officer will be responsible for originating, structuring, underwriting, and closing construction loans for residential and/or commercial real estate projects. This individual will work closely with builders, developers, internal credit teams, and construction administrators to guide loans through the full transaction lifecycle—from initial deal sourcing through funding and construction draws.

This role is ideal for a relationship‑driven lender with strong construction loan knowledge and hands‑on experience managing multiple active projects.

Key Responsibilities

Originate and structure construction loan opportunities for residential and/or commercial real estate developments
Develop and maintain relationships with builders, developers, contractors, and referral partners
Analyze borrower financials, global cash flow, credit history, and project feasibility
Review construction budgets, cost breakdowns, timelines, and project plans
Prepare comprehensive loan packages and present transactions for internal credit approval
Coordinate with underwriting, credit, appraisal, legal, and closing teams
Manage the loan closing process, including conditions, documentation, and funding requirements
Oversee construction loan administration, including draw requests, inspections, and compliance
Monitor project progress and proactively address risks or performance concerns
Ensure loans comply with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Real Estate, or a related field (preferred)
3+ years of experience in construction lending, commercial lending, or real estate finance
Strong understanding of construction loan structures, draws, inspections, and project budgeting
Experience underwriting and closing construction loans from origination through final funding
Solid credit analysis and risk‑assessment skills
Ability to manage multiple active construction projects simultaneously
Strong communication, relationship management, and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and loan origination systems (LOS experience preferred)

Preferred Experience

Background working directly with builders and developers
Experience with land acquisition, vertical construction, renovation, or development loans
Exposure to both residential and commercial construction lending
Existing referral or builder network is a plus
