About the Role
The Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, comprehensive cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects while supporting the company's strategic growth initiatives. This position works closely with the Chief Estimator, Vice President of Estimating, Project Management, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure successful project pursuits and seamless turnover of awarded work.
The ideal candidate will possess at least 10 years of commercial electrical estimating experience, exceptional analytical and communication skills, and the ability to lead complex estimates while mentoring junior estimators. This is an In-Office position. Midstate Mechanical does not offer a Remote or Hybrid schedule.

To be considered for this position, candidates MUST meet ALL of the following minimum requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of recent experience as a Commercial Electrical Estimator
- Minimum of 3 years as a Senior Electrical Estimator
- All qualifying experience must be within the United States (Arizona experience strongly preferred)
- Extensive experience estimating commercial electrical construction projects
- Must have an insurable driving record with no DUI/DWI convictions within the past three (3) years
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card

Responsibilities
- Coordinate estimating workload and bid priorities with the Chief Estimator and Vice President of Estimating
- Participate in weekly estimating meetings and review upcoming bid opportunities
- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents for electrical scope completeness
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low voltage, controls, generators, site electrical, and specialty systems
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations
- Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Review project specifications to identify approved manufacturers and potential conflicts
- Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and site investigations as required
- Analyze project schedules for manpower requirements, sequencing, overtime, phasing, and scheduling impacts
- Develop proposal letters, scope clarifications, exclusions, qualifications, and value engineering recommendations
- Prepare project budgets and turnover packages for awarded projects
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Purchasing, and Operations throughout project handoff
- Assist with change order pricing, negotiated work, and design revisions
- Review contracts to ensure alignment with estimate assumptions and project scope
- Maintain estimating databases, labor units, historical cost information, and material pricing
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and software systems
- Mentor and train Junior Electrical Estimators
- Maintain bid logs, post-bid analysis, and estimating metrics
- Support company backlog growth through accurate, competitive, and timely estimates
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience Required: Minimum of 8 years of commercial electrical estimating experience.
- Required Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of commercial electrical systems, NEC requirements, construction methods, estimating principles, labor productivity, material pricing, and bid preparation.
- Experience estimating projects ranging from tenant improvements to large ground-up commercial construction.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Experience using estimating software such as Accubid Anywhere, Trimble Estimation, or similar platforms.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and construction schedules.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bid opportunities while meeting strict deadlines.

Requirements
Required Skills
- Extensive knowledge of commercial electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low voltage, controls, generators, and site electrical systems.
- Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local building codes, and commercial construction standards.
- Ability to prepare detailed and accurate construction estimates while managing project budgets and cost control.
- Strong project planning, organization, and scheduling skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple estimates while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction practices, procurement methods, and value engineering.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
