Job Summary
Summit Electric & Data Office is seeking a Low Voltage / AV Installer to join our team. This role is focused primarily on commercial audio/visual system installation, with additional work involving structured cabling, low voltage infrastructure, testing, troubleshooting, and project closeout support.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of hands-on experience installing AV and low voltage systems in commercial environments. Candidates with experience supporting AV system startup, testing, configuration, client walkthroughs, and closeout documentation are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Install, terminate, label, and test low voltage cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coax, speaker wire, control cable, and fiber where applicable.
Install and support AV systems, including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, cameras, control systems, AV racks, mounts, and related equipment.
Assist with AV system commissioning, including device setup, signal testing, audio tuning support, display setup, control system verification, network connectivity checks, and final punch-list completion.
Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, elevations, and project specifications.
Build out AV racks, telecom rooms, patch panels, cable trays, J-hooks, conduit pathways, and device locations.
Perform cable testing, troubleshooting, labeling, and documentation.
Install and troubleshoot systems such as conference rooms, video walls, paging systems, security cameras, access control, network cabling, and data infrastructure.
Document completed work, test results, labeling, as-builts, and commissioning notes for project closeout.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Coordinate with project managers, electricians, general contractors, vendors, programmers, engineers, and clients.
Follow all company standards, job site safety requirements, and applicable codes.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in AV installation, low voltage, structured cabling, or a related field.
Working knowledge of commercial AV installation practices and low voltage job site standards.
Experience installing AV equipment, managing cables, building racks, and mounting devices.
Ability to terminate and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coax, speaker cable, and control wiring.
Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and construction documents.
Must have reliable transportation and basic hand tools.
Must be able to lift equipment, climb ladders, work overhead, and work in commercial construction environments.
Strong communication skills and a professional appearance.
Ability to work independently and support small tasks with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting AV commissioning, structured cabling, security, access control, paging, or other low voltage systems is highly preferred.
Experience with system startup, testing, troubleshooting, programming coordination, equipment configuration, firmware updates, network setup, and final client acceptance.
BICSI, CTS, OSHA 10/30, lift certification, or manufacturer certifications are a plus.
Experience with systems such as Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Hanwha, Axis, or similar platforms.
Experience with access control, surveillance, paging, sound masking, and network infrastructure.
Fiber termination and testing experience is a plus.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
