Job Title: Night Shift CNC Machinist & Supervisor

Location: Phoenix, AZ – Grand Canyon University Campus

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Night Shift CNC Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in operating CNC machines, reading blueprints and schematics, and performing routine maintenance on the equipment. The successful candidate will not only excel at operating CNC machines but also have the opportunity to mentor young operators, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality standards are consistently met. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist with a strong machining expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Set-up: Set up and configure machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines. Ensure proper alignment, tooling, and fixtures for each job.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machine operations, dimensions, and tolerances.
Machine Programming: Program and input machine instructions into computerized control (CNC) machines.
Material Preparation: Prepare and load raw materials for machining.
Operation: Operate CNC machines to produce parts according to customer specifications.
Quality Control: Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot machine issues, making minor repairs and adjustments as necessary.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production output, quality checks, and machine maintenance.
Safety: Follow all safety protocols when operating machinery and supervising others.

Responsibilities:

Communicate shift performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities to management.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize machining processes and team performance.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
Able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or degree a plus).
3–5 years of CNC machining experience (milling, turning, or multi-axis).
Experience reading blueprints and applying GD&T principles.
Skilled in set-up, operation, and use of precision measuring tools.
Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred, or demonstrated leadership potential.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
