Full Job Description

Job Summary

The PROJECT ESTIMATOR is responsible for preparing accurate and timely quotes using provided project specifications, internal pricing tools, and standardized estimating systems (e.g., ProEst). This role operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, partnering closely with sales teams to interpret project inputs, apply appropriate assumptions, and produce reliable pricing.

Unlike traditional construction estimating roles, this position primarily focuses on leveraging pre-defined data, system inputs, and sound judgment to generate quotes rather than daily plan takeoffs. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to apply practical decision-making within established guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Receive and review Requests for Quote (RFQs) from internal and external sales partners
Interpret provided project details, specifications, and standardized inputs for use in estimating tools
Utilize ProEst to generate accurate, consistent, and timely pricing.
Limited take-offs on large projects.
Apply established pricing structures, product configurations, and margin guidelines to all quotes
Collaborate with internal and external sales teams to clarify scope, assumptions, and special project requirements
Exercise critical thinking and practical judgment to resolve gaps, inconsistencies, or unclear inputs
Partner with operations or project management as needed to validate labor or installation assumptions
Deliver completed quotes within established turnaround expectations (often 24-48hrs)
Track quote activity and maintain organized records within internal systems
Identify trends, discrepancies, or process improvement opportunities and communicate them to leadership
Maintain strong internal relationships to support efficient quote-to-order processes
Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, or a combination of education, training, and relevant work experience.
2–5 years of experience in estimating, pricing, sales support, or a related role.
Experience in construction, landscaping, or surfacing industries preferred

OTHER SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Experience with estimating platforms such as ProEst or similar tools preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Ability to quickly learn internal systems and pricing tools
Highly detail-oriented and organized
Strong mathematical and analytical aptitude
Ability to manage multiple quotes simultaneously under tight deadlines
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as bid plans and blueprints and construction. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence as well as be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills

Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.

Other Requirements

· Experience with AutoCAD or similar measurement tool

· Experience in Construction Industry
