This is a part-time position with the Office of the Attorney General. For more information on the Office of the Attorney General, please visit http://atg.sd.gov .

This position provides administrative support for the Office of Attorney General. It provides secretarial/clerical duties using legal terminology, procedures and documents which includes:

obtaining and providing information by telephone and in person in a professionally and courteously;
maintaining composure, professionalism, efficiency, and accuracy during periods of peak workload, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities;
greeting office guests in person in a professional, courteous, and exceptional customer-service;
adapting established procedures to meet operational needs;
typing, proofing, and/or finalizing confidential and sensitive letters, memo, legal documents and legal forms;
other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

experience with secretarial and administrative support duties;
dependable, friendly, approachable and positive attitude;
ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner with the public and in an office environment;
excellent telephone etiquette;
independent work habits that keep them on track;
ability to accomplish tasks without direct supervision.

Knowledge of:

office practices and procedures;
excellent spoken and written English grammar.

Skills to:

use Microsoft Office products effectively;
use office technology, computerized information systems, and standard office software used to support administrative operations;
type at a minimum of 60 words per minute.

Ability to:

work independently on assignments with accuracy;
pass a background investigation.

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.

This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
