Smoky Mountain Health and Rehabilitation is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to our residents. We are currently seeking a dependable and motivated Cook to join our dietary team.

This position plays an important role in enhancing the daily lives of our residents by preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals in a warm and caring environment.

Position Overview

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with facility menus, dietary guidelines, and resident needs while ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, team-oriented, and passionate about serving others.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals according to planned menus and dietary requirements
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control guidelines
Ensure proper meal portioning, presentation, and food quality
Accommodate special dietary needs including diabetic, low sodium, and texture-modified diets
Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment, prep areas, and dining spaces
Assist with food preparation, inventory management, and supply ordering
Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nursing staff, and facility leadership
Ensure meals are served in a timely and professional manner
Monitor food temperatures and storage procedures in compliance with regulations

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous cooking experience in healthcare, long-term care, restaurant, or institutional setting preferred
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
ServSafe certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Strong communication and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move kitchen supplies as needed
