Basketball Business Institute™ (BBI™) is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and development-focused Assistant Basketball Coach to join the coaching staff of our post-graduate basketball and business education academy.
The Assistant Basketball Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to recruit, develop, mentor, and prepare student-athletes for opportunities at the collegiate level. This position requires much more than coaching during games. The successful candidate will play an active role in player development, practice planning, recruiting, scouting, film study, academic accountability, college placement, student-athlete mentorship, and the overall daily operation of the BBI™ basketball program.

ABOUT BBI™
Basketball Business Institute™ is being developed as a post-graduate basketball and business education academy designed for student-athletes seeking an additional year of academic, athletic, personal, and professional development before entering collegiate athletics.
BBI™ will combine:

Student-athletes will compete in a minimum of 24 games against prep schools, post-graduate programs, military teams, Job Corps programs, colleges, and other competitive institutions.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant Basketball Coach will serve as a key member of the BBI™ basketball staff and support all aspects of the basketball program.
The position requires someone willing to coach, teach, recruit, mentor, organize, travel, scout, communicate, and develop relationships.
The Assistant Coach must embrace the developmental nature of post-graduate basketball and understand that every athlete enters BBI™ with a different objective. Some athletes may need additional physical development. Others may need greater confidence, stronger basketball IQ, academic improvement, additional film, recruiting exposure, or simply another year to mature.
Our coaching staff must be capable of identifying those needs and creating an individualized pathway for each student-athlete.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPlayer Development
The Assistant Coach will:
- Conduct individual and small-group player development sessions.
- Assist with team practices and skill-development workouts.
- Develop guards, wings, and/or post players based on coaching expertise.
- Teach offensive and defensive concepts.
- Help improve basketball IQ and decision-making.
- Assist with strength, conditioning, mobility, and recovery coordination.
- Track individual player development.
- Conduct player evaluations.
- Participate in individual development meetings.
- Help prepare athletes for the physical and mental demands of college basketball.
Practice & Game Responsibilities
The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach with:
- Practice planning
- Practice execution
- Offensive installation
- Defensive installation
- Scouting reports
- Opponent preparation
- Game strategy
- Substitution planning
- Film breakdown
- Statistical analysis
- Pre-game preparation
- In-game coaching
- Post-game evaluation
The Assistant Coach must be comfortable assuming additional coaching responsibilities when necessary.
Recruiting
Recruiting will be a significant component of this position.
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying prospective student-athletes.
- Evaluating game film.
- Attending high school, AAU, showcase, camp, and recruiting events.
- Communicating with prospective student-athletes and families.
- Maintaining recruiting databases.
- Conducting prospective student-athlete evaluations.
- Assisting with campus visits and recruiting presentations.
- Building relationships with high school and grassroots coaches.
- Identifying regional, national, and international prospects when appropriate.
The Assistant Coach will help recruit student-athletes who fit both the basketball expectations and institutional culture of BBI™.
College Recruiting & Placement
One of the most important responsibilities of the BBI™ coaching staff will be helping student-athletes earn opportunities to continue their basketball careers.
The Assistant Coach will:
- Develop relationships with college coaches.
- Communicate with programs regarding BBI™ prospects.
- Distribute film, statistics, academic information, and player profiles.
- Assist athletes with recruiting communications.
- Identify realistic collegiate opportunities for each player.
- Educate athletes about different levels of college basketball.
- Maintain records of recruiting interest and offers.
- Help prepare athletes for conversations with college coaches.
- Advocate professionally and honestly for BBI™ student-athletes.

Our objective is to help them leave BBI™ with opportunities.
Film & Analytics
The Assistant Coach will assist with:
- Breaking down game and practice film.
- Creating individual player film sessions.
- Evaluating offensive and defensive possessions.
- Preparing opponent scouting reports.
- Reviewing statistical trends.
- Using analytics to identify development opportunities.
- Creating recruiting film and player highlights.
- Helping athletes understand how film translates to improvement.
Student-Athlete Mentorship
BBI™ coaches are educators and mentors.
The Assistant Coach will:
- Build meaningful relationships with student-athletes.
- Reinforce accountability and discipline.
- Monitor student conduct.
- Support academic expectations.
- Encourage leadership and personal responsibility.
- Help athletes develop professional communication skills.
- Participate in character-development programming.
- Serve as a positive role model.
Coaches will be expected to hold student-athletes accountable while maintaining a professional, respectful, and development-centered environment.
Academic Accountability
While academic instruction will be managed by designated academic personnel, coaches will support the academic mission of BBI™.
Responsibilities may include:
- Monitoring academic progress.
- Reinforcing attendance expectations.
- Communicating concerns to academic personnel.
- Participating in student-success meetings.
- Helping student-athletes develop time-management habits.
- Supporting college-preparation activities.
At BBI™, basketball development cannot come at the expense of academic development.
Travel & Team Operations
The Assistant Coach will assist with:
- Team travel
- Transportation coordination
- Hotel logistics
- Meals
- Equipment
- Uniforms
- Game-day operations
- Player supervision
- Team itineraries
- Facility preparation
Travel, evening, weekend, and holiday responsibilities should be expected throughout the basketball season.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred candidates should possess:
- Previous basketball coaching experience.

A bachelor's degree is preferred but may not be required for candidates with significant basketball coaching, playing, training, or player-development experience.
