This position is a hybrid Cook/teacher position. Please read the full description for both roles prior to applying. The hours for this position will be Monday-Thursday 7:00AM-5:00PM and Fridays 7:00AM -12:30PM. (Note: the extra 1.5 hours each week will be overtime when all hours are worked).
COOK DUTIES (M-TH 7:00AM - 1:00PM & F 7:00AM- 12:30PM)
You must have your own personal vehicle to qualify for an interview for this position. This position requires use of your personal vehicle to go back and forth between locations during work hours.
This is a fast-paced position that requires the person hired to be able to learn while they work and still continue food output, regularly calculate daily portions, retain information, and more than anything else, the cook must know how to cook! The perfect candidate should have a passion for cooking and truly enjoy the art of cooking. There are times when the cook must figure out how to cook the items on the menu on their own and determine what ingredients are needed for successful execution of the kitchen. Time management skills are a must!
This job consists of fully operating and exectuting every aspect of food creation and delivery along with completing 100% of the kitchen duties independently. A successful candidate will be able to run the entire kitchen by themselves and work well with others when other kitchen personnel is available. This person should be able to take directives from several chains of command as well as lead the kitchen staff when needed. The job is not just cooking. It is management of the entire kitchen according to USDA guidelines and state requirements. This individual should have the basic knowledge of cooking simple meals and developing recipes for commonly executed meals.

Goal:
- To prepare nutritious meals that meet USDA requirements and promote healthy eating behaviors to children from infants up through age 12 for multiple locations.
Responsibilities:
- Complete operations of the full kitchen (all cooking, cleaning, serving, meal planning and organization for 30 to 120 children dialy for breakfast, lunch and snack)
- Use math to calculate portions, necessary inventory, and food ratios to match the count of children for each and every meal.
- Creates and follows CACFP approved recipes to cook breakfast, lunch and snack on a daily basis for about 100 children
- Prepares, types and edits kid-friendly menus monthly (on a 4 week rotation)
- Completes annual CACFP training and all other required trainings for childcare workers.
- Uses the Food Buying Guide for Child Nutrition Programs provided by the USDA when creating new recipes in order to ensure that the proper component(s) is provided
- Maintains a sanitary kitchen and lunch room
- Maintains weekly inventory records for food on-hand
- Completes a weekly food-shopping list using a combination of the weekly recipes, current inventory records, serving portions, and number of children to be served
- Receive food orders and inspect for accuracy as compared to orders placed
- Maintains up to date records of food allergies and prevents contamination
- Completes daily and weekly CACFP paperwork
Requirements:
- Must have reliable transportation to drive between locations
- Must have a current food handler’s or manager's certification within 90 days of employment
- Must have a current First Aid/CPR card with Child AED, and infant CPR endorsement or complete within 30 days of employment
- Must complete Child Care Orientation Training within the first 7 days of employment
- Must complete and pass a criminal background check, child maltreatment check and FBI check
- Must be able to work between 7:00AM and 1:00PM Monday -Friday (average hours 25-30 per week)
- Must be reliable and dependable to work with independently without supervision
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to add and multiply to determine ratios of food needed to prepare meals.
- Must be able to use a calculator and kitchen scale
- Must be able to stand for the duration of the workday
- Knowledge of health and sanitation requirements; be prepared for unexpected inspections from Arkansas Department of Health
- Must be able to work around and interact with children
- Must be a team player to work alone or with one other kitchen staff member as a team to complete the responsibilities listed above
- Must be able to take directives from others and give feedback when required
Preferences:
- Experience with menu planning in accordance to the guidelines required by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen or have current/previous education in food & restaurant hospitality
- Food Manager Certification

TEACHER DUTIES (after 1 hour lunch break M-TH 2:00PM-5:00PM)
POSITION(S) OBJECTIVES:
Provide educational and developmental curriculum in order to promote child’s cognitive and intellectual skill development.
Classroom teacher must be able to demonstrate competency in the areas of developmentally appropriate programming, curriculum development and daily classroom management.
A classroom teacher is an individual who provides support to the teacher assistant, parents, and children. A classroom teacher works under the supervision and guidance of the director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
- Provide planning and implementation of appropriate early childhood educational experiences with a variety of materials in the fields of art, music, literature, science, and mathematics.
- Develop a daily schedule to promote developmentally appropriate activities.
- Develop lesson plans/thematic units in order to give the children the opportunity to participate daily in individual and group activities, which provides the experience for language-reasoning enrichment skills; fine and gross motor activities; creative experiences; and social development, and physical activities.
- Be responsible for completing the appropriate developmental screenings (i.e. ages and stages screening, framework screening, etc.) on each child in the classroom to determine the developmental performance level of the child.
- Be responsible for all required documentation and reporting forms on the children.
- Work with parents to promote understanding of growth and development of their child; conduct parent/teacher conferences; encourage parents to participate in the classroom and with other activities at Klassic Kidz when appropriate. (2 per year)
- Supervise all children’s activities to ensure safety and appropriateness.
- Supervise and direct parents, volunteers, and substitutes who may be assigned to the classroom.
- Provide and maintain a neat and organized classroom; assist in the responsibility for the upkeep of all equipment and materials in the classroom.
- Attend and participate in staffing meetings, open house, and any function as requested, which may benefit the child or the program.
- Make referrals to director for support services for children and/or families.
- Maintain confidentiality and respond to each family being served with dignity and respect.
- Follow all policies written in Klassic Kidz Childcare Policy and Procedure Manual, Arkansas Minimum Licensing Requirements for Child Care Centers and ECERS/ITERS regulations.
- Must be able to travel in and out of area for training including overnight travel when deemed necessary by Director.
- Must complete a minimum of 4*_5 PDR*_ training hours per year.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing when representing Klassic Kidz.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the director.
- Answering the phone and taking messages.
- Create and update children portfolios
- Report maintenance to Director
- Interact skills with all children of your age group.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
The classroom teacher holds at a minimum a High School Diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
- Child Development Associate Certifiaction (CDA) - in progress, obtained, OR agree to complete with Klassic Kidz.
- Associates Degree in Child Development- in progress or obtained
- Bachelors Degree (or higher)in Child Development or related field, Teachers are encouraged to obtain CDA or higher degree.
- Must pass central registry check, criminal background checks, FBI Check and physical exam.
- Attend all required trainings and meetings as assigned.
- Willingness to endure exposure to inclement weather.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
- Must be physically able to interact and supervise the children in the classroom and on the playground.
- Professional development classes for appropriate age group.
Starting Wage
$13.00 - $15.00 Per Hour depending on experience and credentials.
