We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Manager to provide advanced technical leadership across our machining operation.
Position Summary
The CNC Machine Manager is a senior, hands-on technical position responsible for supporting CNC setups, troubleshooting difficult machining problems, developing employee skills, improving operating standards, and leading shop-wide technical improvements.
This individual will serve as a knowledgeable and dependable resource for CNC operators, setup technicians, and other members of the manufacturing team. The successful candidate must be comfortable working directly with machines, solving complex problems, training others, and taking ownership of improvements from identification through completion.
This position is ideal for an advanced CNC professional who understands the complete machining process and wants to help improve the capability, consistency, and performance of an entire shop.

Primary Responsibilities
Advanced CNC Support
- Provide advanced technical support for CNC machining operations
- Perform and support complex CNC setups and changeovers
- Set and verify tooling, fixtures, soft jaws, work offsets, and machine conditions
- Assist with first-piece verification and production readiness
- Troubleshoot difficult machine, tooling, setup, dimensional, program, and process-related problems
- Help identify the root cause of downtime, scrap, quality concerns, and inconsistent machine performance
- Support 2-, 3-, and 5+ axis machining operations
- Run production equipment when hands-on technical involvement is needed
- Help ensure machines and processes are capable of operating safely, consistently, and efficiently
Training and Employee Development
- Train employees on CNC machine operation, setups, tooling, inspection, troubleshooting, and proper machine care
- Help develop less-experienced operators into capable and independent CNC professionals
- Explain technical concepts in a practical and understandable way
- Reinforce proper setup, inspection, documentation, safety, and operating practices
- Identify technical skill gaps and recommend additional training
- Develop useful instructions, checklists, setup standards, and troubleshooting guides
- Encourage employees to ask questions, understand the process, and take ownership of their machines and work areas
- Provide professional coaching and technical feedback
Process and Shop Improvement
- Identify and lead improvements that increase safety, quality, uptime, efficiency, and repeatability
- Improve setup preparation and reduce unnecessary changeover time
- Identify opportunities to improve tooling, fixtures, workholding, machine utilization, and operating methods
- Help eliminate recurring production and machining problems
- Improve organization of machines, tooling, fixtures, setup materials, and technical information
- Support improvements involving robotics, automation, material handling, coolant systems, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment
- Assist with the introduction of new equipment, products, and manufacturing processes
- Develop practical standards that can be consistently followed across shifts
- Follow improvement projects through completion and verify that they produce meaningful results
Quality and Technical Standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical documentation
- Use precision measurement equipment to verify product requirements
- Support the development of stable and repeatable machining processes
- Help resolve/ prevent recurring dimensional and quality concerns
- Ensure technical and operating standards are clearly understood and consistently applied
- Promote accurate inspections, documentation, and first-piece verification
- Escalate unresolved safety, quality, equipment, or technical concerns appropriately
- Maintain high standards for machine condition, cleanliness, organization, and care
Equipment and Operational Support
- Recognize developing machine and equipment problems before they create major downtime
- Support basic troubleshooting and help coordinate advanced technical service when required
- Identify maintenance, repair, tooling, training, or process needs affecting machine performance
- Help prioritize technical problems based on safety, quality, and production impact
- Support long-term improvements to machine capability and reliability
- Maintain clear technical information regarding open problems and completed corrective actions
- Communicate effectively across shifts to prevent repeated problems and incomplete follow-up
Required Qualifications
- Advanced CNC machining experience in a production manufacturing environment
- Strong experience performing CNC setups and changeovers
- Strong understanding of tooling, fixtures, soft jaws, workholding, work offsets, and machine operation
- Ability to troubleshoot complex machining, tooling, setup, dimensional, and equipment-related problems
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measurement equipment
- Strong understanding of milling, turning, materials, cutting tools, and machining processes
- Experience with multi-axis CNC equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability
- Ability to train others and clearly explain technical information
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of difficult problems
- Strong communication, organization, and follow-through
- Commitment to safety, quality, cleanliness, and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- Okuma Multus experience
- Okuma mill or lathe experience
- P200, P300, or P500 control experience
- 5-axis or multi-function CNC machining experience
- Robotics and manufacturing automation experience
- CNC programming or program-optimization knowledge
- Experience developing standardized setups or operating procedures
- Experience training CNC operators and setup technicians
- Experience improving setup time, cycle time, machine utilization, or process capability
- Previous technical-lead or machining-leadership experience
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Primary schedule: Monday through Thursday
- Four 10-hour shifts
- Occasional availability may be required to support other shifts, training, major technical issues, or equipment installations
- Overtime available as business needs require
