About the Role
As a Travel Respiratory Therapist, you'll provide specialized respiratory care to patients ranging from newborns to seniors who are experiencing breathing difficulties related to illness, injury, chronic disease, or emergency conditions.
You'll evaluate patients, perform diagnostic testing, administer respiratory treatments, manage ventilators and oxygen therapy, and collaborate with care teams to develop individualized treatment plans. This role requires strong clinical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to perform effectively in fast-paced hospital environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions
- Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and respiratory treatments
- Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support equipment
- Monitor patient response to therapy and recommend treatment adjustments
- Perform diagnostic testing including pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gases, and other respiratory evaluations
- Assist with airway management and emergency respiratory interventions
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Educate patients and families regarding respiratory conditions and treatment plans
- Document patient care and treatment outcomes accurately
- Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and respiratory care standards
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Respiratory Therapist license
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapy experience
- Current RRT or CRT credentials as required by facility and state regulations
- Strong knowledge of respiratory equipment, therapies, and patient assessment
- Ability to adapt quickly to new healthcare environments
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
