Full Job Description

Neville Chemical Company is a leading manufacturer of low molecular weight thermoplastic and liquid resins that serve a wide variety of applications in the Coatings, Adhesives, Ink and Rubber industries. Customer satisfaction, innovation, and extensive research have been hallmarks for 100 years.

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Junior Chemist for our Research & Development Division at our Neville Island, Pennsylvania location. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the production plant with Quality Assurance testing and supporting R&D with routine analysis of new or in-development projects. This position will also perform physical testing of various materials, perform resin polymerization reactions (thermal and catalytic), maintain and calibrate test equipment and instrumentation, and assist with regulatory matters.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Independently analyze polymers using a variety of analytical techniques (GPC, HPLC, FTIR, NMR, DSC, GC, GC/MS).
Properly operate all equipment and lab instruments in a safe and clean manner.
Effectively participate in troubleshooting and technical support for plant team, sales team, and customers.
Prepare lab synthesized samples for customer evaluations.
Assist the sales team with regulatory questions posed by customers.
Assist R&D with synthesis and resin qualification.
Maintain databases with analysis results.
Properly maintains lab areas, storage areas and equipment.
Responsible for following all applicable waste handling procedures.

Education and Qualifications:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, analytical chemistry, or materials science
Entry level position 0-2 years of experience
Ability to work independently and in a team environment to achieve goals.
Ability to effectively multitask and manage projects.
Attention to detail and strong time-management skills
Compliance with laboratory Health, Safety and Environmental rules and regulations.
Effective oral and written communication skills, reporting of test results in documentation.
Proficient in MS Office basic computer skills- Word, Excel, PPT.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
